Gah!!! I miss 2008... Things were so sleek and idk... had this "earthy-homey" feel.  I like 2018 better tho....

2008 was kind of the first year I remember in extreme detail. I was 12 turning 13 that year and just have so many fond memories from it. Also went from primary to secondary school which was a big change and a huge deal. Also I'm wondering does anyone remember this commercial? It was my favorite from this year.

I know what you mean. 2008 had a very “autumn”, “earth-colored”, downbeat feeling to it. I can’t really describe it but everything felt very terrain-esque and archaeologist-esque. I really like the nostalgic asthetics 2008 carries. 2018 is more of a “sky blue”, “hopeful” feeling. A lot different than the “washed out” and “grungy” feel 2008 was going for.

I always 100% felt like 2004 & 2005 had an earthy, autumn feel to it. But moreso 2004 than 2005. Thats one of the reasons why 2004 is one of my favorite years.

The last couple of years is the first time I can finally say 2008 is feeling dated, but for A LONG TIME that year still felt recent to me, even in 2015 the year still felt like yesterday to me, and it still does in a little sense because I was 12 with a full understanding of the world around me and not a little kid anymore. The late 2000's-present in general are still modern, make no mistake about it.

2007 didn't get dark for me until I hit middle school, but I get where you're coming from and you're right. Both 2008 and 2009 were dark years for me with growing pains while it still had some positive moments, but then all of the sudden when 2010 hit everything just went back to light IMO. 2001-2006 were the most carefree extreme bright years of my life but especially 2002-2004. I'd go back to that 3 year period any day.
