Subject: The Truth about the late 2000's (as told from someone who was a teen )
Written By: John Titor on 04/24/18 at 6:05 pm
There seems to be a lot of misinformation about the late 2000's from people on Youtube and a few on other websites ;)
on what the late 2000s actually felt like (in hindsight) VS what they really felt like
2006- Felt 95% like 2005 the entire year, Towards the end we had little shifts like Malcolm in the Middle ending & That 70s show as well
as the CW, and the arrival of Windows Visa beta, things felt a tiny bit different, but for the most part it felt 2000's. Music was getting more
Danceable due to the likes of Timbalands artists JT and Nelly, and yet things still felt like the 2000s just a small small small small amount different.
The economy felt the same as it always had been. A lot of people give this year guff for movies (it did suck) but it was not that bad.
The 2006 shift is exaggerated on this board I will admit, as that shift is NOTHING compared to the shift we were going to see 2 years later.
2007- People love this year for video games, The 2000s vibe was dropping off really fast in 2007, as early as Feb-March 2007
you could feel the difference, People were already getting nostalgic for the early 2000s in 2007. Facebook (having debuted in Aug 2006)
took over in March 2007 and everyone on the east coast started migrating to it, Myspace was still popular but the cracks were starting to show.
The Ps3 was not selling at all this year, the Wii was pretty much kicking its ass, Iphone releases in June and creates A DARK and Digital
feeling, People are still using FLip Phones despite the release.
2008- felt 65% of the 2000s, By this point there were already conversations that the 2000s were over even before the shift that would happen,
clothing was the same & attitudes were the same, the explosion of HD this year was very jarring as everything started looking FAKE due to the HD
technology. People like to pretend 2008 was the year everyone came to Facebook but that is simply not true , the conversion was already happening
in 2007. There was still that 2000s feeling in the air despite changes like Obama, Lady Gaga taking over and the end of Toonami.
2009-
All of the classic 2000's things we loved are no more, TRL, Circuit City, KB Toys, Toonami, even the 2000s president GW Bush is no longer at the helm,
It felt like massive reset button hit the culture, things were never the same for a long long time, The economy was finished for a few years, it just create this feeling like 2009 was not canon to the 2000s, People started hating the 2000s at this point and started associating 2009 with the rest of the 2000s as a whole, when it was not the truth. When Kesha came out she was seen as a joke at first, Emo was still popular until June 2009, YES June 2009, people were still rocking that look.

"The truth about the late 2000's (as told from someone who was a teen)"
The title of this thread makes it sound as if it's a murder mystery that has just been resolved.

The late 2006 shift has basically turned into a meme on this forum.

ThePrequelsSuck was Zelek3's previous alias he went by 3/4 years ago, on YouTube and IGN most notably.

The truth about the late 2000s:
September 1, 2006 was the start of the late 2000s that changed everything
and December 31, 2009 was the last day of the late 2000s
