Subject: 2001's first half VS second half
Written By: John Titor on 03/15/18 at 2:31 pm
What half did you like better?
For me it has to be the second half, despite 9/11 which was terrible,
the pop culture during Junior high time felt surreal and I felt as if the real 2000's
culture started around the time of the 2001 VMAS. Things has a more mature vibe,
such as songs like SLAVE 4 you, Jimmy Eat World's the middle, Sum 41, Everywhere by
Michelle Branch, GTA 3's debut on PS2 (which was a HUGE DEAL)
What do you think?

First half was probably the best part about the 2000s.
Pokémon Stadium 2 and Paper Mario 64 and still trying to finish Majora's Mask and Pokémon Silver. Enough said, lock this thread, it's over. :P

Late 2001 started the Maajin Buu saga in Dragonball Z.
There, late 2001 is officially out of the running.

The wierd thing is in 2001, I liked the first quarter (Jan-Mar) and the last (Oct-Dec). The middle was kind of "meh". I was on deployment with my ship, and we know how September was. But I did enjoy Singapore and Hong Kong in the summer. The funny thing is Rush Hour 2 came out that time so I got to see a lot where I just went to (just like when I went to Abu Dhabi in 2015 and part of Fast & the Furious 7 was there).

The second half of 2001 felt kind of depressing, the months after 9/11, has anyone felt that way?

Culturally, I'd say the core 2000s (not to be confused with mid-2000s which began sometime in 2003) really began on November 15, 2001, the day that the XBOX was released in America, with the first Harry Potter film, The Sorcerer's Stone hitting the box office the next day and the Nintendo GameCube two days later. Some Y2K culture lingered through 2002 and the very beginning of 2003, but by that point, the '90s influence had been pushed to the curb. Most of the fall of 2001 was just mourning from those Iraqi attacks and later the Anthrax scare. Plus, Britney Spears third album, although its more mature than her first two, sort of represents the end of this era, and it was released just nine days before my designated "core 2000s" start date on November 9th, and this was shortly after The Concert For New York City. Nickelback, a core '00s band, was just starting to break through around this time with "How You Remind Me".
