These pictures just show how 2000's 2008 was. You can see the girl in the 8th picture with a flip phone. There's very little if not anything early 2010's about these pictures. If anything 2008 was the quintessential late 2000's year.

*It was when the Trayvon Martin incident took place. This event ushered in the racial tensions of this decade.
*It was the start of fourth-wave feminism, which would become a defining trait of SJW ideology.
*The hipster trend of this decade started to rise to higher levels that year (at least where I lived).
*It was when marijuana was declared legal in Colorado and Washington.

I want to add that Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" came out in the fall of 2012.  Most people associate the song with 2013 but I remember it being the most popular at the tail end of 2012.  In my opinion, that was essential to the transition from the early '10s to the mid '10s.

Politically this decade has been all over the place.  I would consider the early '10s to be pretty moderate.  Obama's first term was more liberal than the 2000s but wasn't near as liberal as his second term.  The late '10s are as conservative as the mid '10s were liberal.  This is truly a despicable era in US history and I believe future generations will look back on today like normal decent people look back on Jim Crow.
