Subject: Years of The 2000's that are Stand Alone
Written By: John Titor on 01/16/18 at 4:07 pm
This thread is for years of the 2000's that you feel are non canon and that could stand alone.
Here are some of mine, 2003 and 2009
2003) Had some of the trends of 2002 but it was a transition year and things felt kind of weird.
Lot's of early 2000s trends were long in the tooth, and the transition to the mid 2000s was a LONNNNNNNNG
one. It took awhile but we got there by late 2004. By the time myspace debuted in late 2004 we were there.
2009) All of the classic 2000's things and stores were dead by this point, we had a new pres that was
elected 2 months before at the time, the recession was really amping up, things felt like a wasteland full
of empty mall stores while having music that was completely different to anything we had that decade.

2009 felt extremely different from the rest of the 2000's. From what I can remember, Facebook was already more popular than Myspace, a new president, the electropop explosion especially with new artists like Lady Gaga that would be huge in the early 2010's, YouTube goes HD (it actually went HD in December 2008 but that's not even a full month in 2008) It did feel like we were already in a new decade by that point. The 2008-2009 school year was probably the most transitional school year I've ever seen so far.

2000 and 2009 are easily the most stand alone years for the deacde. They each had a different president from every other 2000s year (2001-2008), 2009 had early 10s electropop, 2000 had late 90s teen pop, 2009 was a recession, 2000 was pre 9/11 etc....

2009. 2000 is not stand alone. That year felt very 2000sey (even if it it was a bit different). But 2009, completely standalone and 2008 to an extent as well.

2000 was part of the Y2K era (1999 - 2001) not late '90s era. It was still part of the cultural 2000s decade with a Y2K atmosphere.

There were no years of the 2000s that stood alone.

Tell me where in that sentence I said 2000 was late 90s?

2000 had late 90s teen pop
You said 2000 had late 90s teen pop but I would say the pop music from then is the Y2K era specifically and the 1990s were completely gone in 2000.

Exactly, so I didn't say 2000 was late 90s......I said it had Late 90s teen pop. Anyways, I really couldn't care less what you think, don't tell me.
