I am lol :D! It was one of my favorite years during my childhood. Its crazy how these photos are almost 16 years old though.

That means there's kids in high school that weren't even a twinkle in their parent's eyes when these photos were taken :o.

Its crazy how dated these commercials look. The 2000s were once the decade that looked futuristic, sleek, and minimalistic, but now as we get closer to the 2020s those traits are now starting to seem VERY dated. Not to mention the many 90s trends that were still present in 2002...

I wouldn't say dead by summer 2001. 2002 still had a lot of futuristic looking stuff in it. 2002 was more of the transition from the futuristic look into the Pop Punk vibe, I think. Although I also remember seeing some say that the Y2K vibe peaked in late 1999-early 2000 and by the time you got to late 2000 - mid 2001 the Y2K trend was declining.

Overall I did like the vibe of 2002's pop culture. Pop Culture was great and didn't have the annoying issues (half of which aren't real issues and are more superficial in my opinion, but this world likes to exaggerate) that we have today.

In television commercials and tech at least, I remember 2002-mid 2004 still having that Y2K feel to it. For example the iMac G4 from 2002.

I did something really similar this summer, where my personal iPod playlist is now stuffed to the brim with all sorts of bubblegum pop, R&B, ska, and pop punk from approximately 1998-2004. It's pretty f'ing magical.

I didn't particularly care for the early part of 2002 (about the first 3 months). I was suffering from insomnia so it's not a good memory at all. The vibe was also still depressing as it was right after 9/11, and the music reflected it.

Btw, anybody remember the Nike commercial from that time, which had piano music like Vanessa Carlton's "1000 Miles" song, and people doing different sporting activities from kicking a soccer ball to bungee jumping?

Here's that said commercial. I guess it was made for the Winter Olympics, which was around that time too. I remember watching the opening ceremony of the SLC games. It was especially a huge deal when Team USA came out during the parade of flags, since it was right after 9/11.
