Subject: The best music of the mid-2000s came from...
Written By: doublejm1 on 12/04/17 at 7:23 am
In my view, the best songs of the mid-2000s were those produced by Timbaland. I'm talking about:
- Promiscuous and Say it Right - Nelly Furtado
- SexyBack, Summer Love, LoveStoned, My Love - Justin Timberlake
- Ayo Technology- 50 Cent
- The Way I Are, Apologize, and Give It To Me, all from Shock Value (Timbaland's own album)
In a sea of mostly snap rappers, Timbaland's music really stood out and was ahead of its time. Listen to any of the above songs today and they're still uber catchy. They do not seem out of place if heard on the radio in 2017.
I'm wondering why Timbaland didn't continue to produce songs for/collaborate with these artists in the 2010s as much. I know he produced songs for Justin's "The 20/20 Experience," but I felt the songs weren't as good as the ones in his prior album.

Personally for me, the best music came from movie soundtracks.

Personally for me, the best music came from movie soundtracks.
A good example was the motion picture soundtrack for "Batman Begins."

Yep. Timbaland made a lot of huge club hits back then. He just completely disappeared after 2008 :o

Timbaland was a '90s/'00s record producer.

Timbaland probably felt he completed his legacy by then. Also, he could have even developed a superiority complex and started not seeing newer artists as see fit. It feels as if Drake's the last artist Timbaland worked with.
You don't hear from Dr. Dre or The Neptunes anymore either.

His peak as a producer was 1996 to 2008, but he made a few hit songs around the turn of 2010 with "Carry Out" and "If We Ever Meet Again," and then again in 2013 with the singles from Justin Timberlake's 20/20 Experience.
As for the mid-2000s, Rachel Stevens is my #1 representative for the period. <3

The best music of the Mid 2000s came from...the UK and Australia. The US was too caught up in "ringtone rap" and low-brow pop music, while there were some genuinely great compositions which were coming out of the UK and Australia at the time:

Last album I must've bought on CD was probably in 2004 with Avril Lavigne's Under My Skin. I think my brother got Simple Plan's Still Not Getting Any.
In late 2004 I discovered Limewire ;D

I wonder what made him release new music. His legacy is set.

Well, just because his legacy is solidified doesn't mean he's gonna stop making music. I'm sure he loves what he does.

I agree. I actually disliked the mid/late 00' Timberland sound.
