Subject: Living in The USA vs Canada in the 2000s
Written By: John Titor on 11/09/17 at 2:53 pm
I am from the states, but I am always hearing how different Canada was in the 2000s.
Hell Canadas own version of TRL (Much On Demand MOD) lasted past 2009.

The vibe to me seems VASTLY different that the USA version of the 2000s.
I get the impression the core 2000s in Canada still went on in 2009.

I don't believe the core 2000s lasted past 2009 here at all but man that MOD video really does look classic... It has the classic Much Music logo, Devon (the VJ interviewing her) and the classic studio set up for MOD. Much Music was still alright in 2009!

In 2009, most kids still communicated through MSN. Facebook/Twitter were for pics/status updates, but most chats still took place on MSN until smartphones got more popular in 2010.

A couple Canadian stuff from the 2000s for nostalgia
This song was very popular and on the radio constantly in the late 2000s in Canada

This was one of my favourite Canadian commercials from the 2000s. They had different versions of these commercials too. I think these were around 2005 or 2006.

I never watched these channels, being American, but they did bring over a lot of your shows to America, which I saw growing up. Some of them were good, like Ed Edd n Eddy and Clone High, but others were rather cheap/ordinary, like Atomic Betty and My Dad the Rockstar.

Those YTV things look as if they won't last survive past early 1999 here in the US.

Yeah I didn't like My Dad the Rockstar. No wonder it didn't make it past one season.

Haha that video screams Y2K. Especially at the end when they said they are giving away a JVC Portable CD Player. ;D

It's really especially in that YTV video with the girl on it. It looks as if it were from 1997-98 instead of 2000 (despite the fact that names like "Britney Spears" were mentioned). Is this just me?

Yes early 2009 was the last portion that could be considered part of the core 00's. Punk pop was still in around 2008-09.

Actually it got two seasons.
According to Wikipedia:
Also, there was an unaired episode that showcases Alyssa's true rapping skills, named "Silent Springs' Most Wanted" (which is a reference to the movie Malibu's Most Wanted), but it never got the chance to air. It was never revived in time to air a third season.
Malibu's Most Wanted was very unkid-friendly so I wonder how a kids' show would've bowdlerized it.
