I have a vivid memory of every summer of the 2000's (being a teen in pretty much all of them)
and 2009 was the most boring of them all

Personal, I was making the most of that summer for I was set to start a new job position at the beginning of September, which turned out to had been my favourite job in my working career.

I felt like that summer was devoid of anything exciting

Summer 2009 was a very memorable, landmark summer for me with a lot of firsts. I had some of the best times of my life and some of the worst times of my life that summer. In fact, much of my life since has been defined directly or indirectly by things that happened during the summer of 2009.
I stopped going to church and started smoking cigarettes in June 2009. I discovered clubbing, marijuana, and came out of the closet about my sexuality that summer. The ONLY time I have ever actually dated in my life was during that summer and a little bit into the fall of 2009. The music that summer was probably the best of my life (I can't think of another summer before or after where I was more into the music than I was in '09). I finally got to move away from my small hick town (that I later moved back to in 2012) that summer which was one of the most exciting moments of my life. I also lost focus at work and ended up getting myself fired from my job, which my family then told me I deserved because I was a disgusting f*ggot.
I would not want to relive Summer 2009. As great as parts of it were, I wouldn't want to go through the bad parts. That said, I look back on it very fondly and am glad I experienced it.

Summer of '09 was alright. If we're talking about pop culture than sorta.
In terms of music 2009 was actually pretty good.

For video games 2009 was meh.
Fashion wasn't anything special as nothing really stood out.
When it came to cartoons on TV it was terrible as Toonami was gone, Toon Disney was replaced by Disney XD (which in 09 wasn't as good as it is today), Nickelodeon was meh, and Cartoon Network was in their dark age.
For live action TV I can't remember anything memorable really starting up in 2009.
Although I did like Youtube in '09. Back when Youtube was still a crazy social video site with a ton of crazy videos. Not the samey lets play, vlog, political, reaction videos we have today.

Don't forget about the "Swine Flu" H1N1 Pandemic scare of 2009! That was going on a lot in the TV and news, and I was so paranoid.
I was 11 going on 12 that summer, and about to start seventh grade in the fall. I caught the flu in June, and I was so bedridden and ill for a month that I thought I actually caught a case of Swine Flu. ;D
I saw two movies while sick in bed that summer that I can remember: Coraline (2009) and Knowing (2009) with Nicholas Cage which blew my mind completely. Miley Cyrus' 'Party in the USA' became an overplayed song. 8)

That's cool! Are you allowed to talk about the movie or do they have you under an NDA?
Anyway it wasn't long, about a month. I worked on a kibbutz, crossed into Jordan for a bit, saw Syria when things were slightly less sheeshty for them...good times.

And? Was the US like England in the 1970s with only four channels? CN, Adult Swim, YTV, ABC kids all had your TV anime cravings covered.

Toonami was a phenomenon for American males. You wouldn't see it. Toonami being gone at the time was like, you could feel a void around you.

I was watching BBC News 24 waiting to call and show my wife the report on the death of Farrah Fawcett, at the time of around 9:30pm here in the UK, the report never came and was not shown, for the breaking news on Michael Jackson took over. Also, Google crashed too! Then eBay went haywire with the selling of MJ's products.

Did you feel an irreplaceable void when Vine ended? I could care less if a corporation wishes to shoot themselves in the foot(CN in 2009 was machine gunning it). There are plenty of alternative today just as their were a decade ago.

It wasn't horrible but wasn't the best. Michael Jackson dying, the swine flue, the economy in the toilet, were all things that made it pretty bad summer.

Summer 2009 was when I bought my first pair of skinny jeans, and my fashion style became truly "early 2010s". It was a transformative experience! June 2009 is the last time I wore those late 2000s bootcut jeans. NEVER AGAIN (is what we all say).

I actually really liked the summer. I don't really care about the stuff you listed (except for WWE, but I wasn't really into it at the time) so I didn't think it was boring. It was the first summer I actually cared about music since my sister gave me her iPod and there were lots of great songs.

2009 was not a happy time for me. I lost my sister in Nov. of 2008 and my grief was hitting me hard throughout 2009. Carlos was undergoing radiation for prostate cancer (I think he was done by June of that year).
My youngest step-daughter got married in July and there was something that happened at the wedding (that I don't want to get into it) that really hurt me to the core.
Plus, I was dealing with a hormonal imbalance that didn't make things any easier.
The good things that happened that year (but not in the summer) were that Granddaughter #4 was born in March and we bought our house in Puerto Rico in Oct. That house being sold as I am writing this and the sale should be complete just about any day now.

Summer 2009 felt like someone sucked the soul out of the 2000s. There was a few things that still looked like the 2000s such as some fashions and vh1 stillin its celeb show phase as well as MySpace still be used despite facebook coming along, but for the most part the culture of the 2000s was about 65 percent gone in 2009. As far as I am concerned 2008 was the last summer of the 2000s .

It was one of the coldest, wettest summers on record. Many mornings were still -20 to -25F in April. And it never got warm. Many days were only 40 some degrees F, and it rarely stopped raining until fall when it was almost ready to snow. I didn't get much of anything done outside. Combine that with the recession (where I would be laid off soon), and $4/gallon gas, it wasn't a good time.

I turned 14 in the summer of 2009. It was okay imo, I liked the music - When Love Takes Over was probably the biggest hit of the summer here in the UK, great song that I still listen to today. Bulletproof by La Roux is another good one.
The weather was pretty normal. I do remember a huge thunderstorm in June while I was in school though. That day started off hot and a lot of people got caught out. Was funny watching people come indoors soaking wet. ;D
MySpace was still being used but was on the decline. Lots of people started switching over to Facebook earlier in the year. Twitter was popular too. No Instagram or Snapchat back then. Smartphones were still a big novelty, not many people had one.
The recession was obviously in progress but we weren’t too badly affected thankfully. Most noticeable difference for me as a 14 year old was things becoming more expensive and money not going as far as it did a year earlier. This was most evident with our weekly food shop.
Oh, and my fashion sense was dreadful. I cringe at how badly I dressed as a teenager.
