I guess I was always pretty intrigued with world affairs ;D. FWIW though, as you could see with my graphs most events from before I was 6 or so I don't remember as well. I think that has a lot to do with my memories not being as clear, along with the fact that my family didn't have cable before 2002, thus no access to channels like Fox, CNN, etc.

Same here but I didn't pay much attention to politics (besides the 2008 election) until I was 12-13 years old.

I also remember the Michael Jackson molestation thing...so that adds 2 to my original total (making it 27 out of 71). Those events were mostly too political for me as a 5 month old to 10 year old.

Another thing to take into account is that obviously one's memories of say MJ's death in 2009 is going to vary greatly based on age. Someone who was 10 when he died may react and remember differently than someone who was 30.

I was about 3 weeks away from turning 10 when MJ died and I definitely remember how I felt and where I was.

Yeah I was similar age to you when MJ was acquitted back in 2005. So using that as a guideline I could see how you would be affected by it. I was a big MJ fan growing up, mainly due to the influence of my mom who loved MJ when she was teen/young adult. So the Sexual Assault scandal, which I vividly remember due to my mom watching a documentary of the alleged misconduct back in like 2003, stuck with me for years until his untimely death.

I honestly just remember the hype of New Years, 2000, somewhat, the September 11 event, PlayStation 2 hype, Grand Theft Auto debut, 2004 presidential election, somewhat, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas hype, Hurricane Katrina, YouTube's immense presents, the Barack Obama hype and Michael Jackson's transition.

I remember 60% of those events.

25 out of 71. That is mostly because I was so young that I didn't care about political events (mostly). Also, I didn't become a fan of sports until the second half of the 2000s.


That's actually pretty solid for a 1999 baby. There are plenty of other folks born 1999 that probably wouldn't be able to remember that much, especially the London Bombings and Hurricane Katrina when you were just 6.

Yeah, I tried to find as many international events as I could, but this list was mostly based off what I could remember, so it has a pretty huge American slant to it. Sometimes I forget how many non-Americans are on the boards now.


A lot of sports stuff here.  I've never followed sports closely but I remember most everything else that is non-sports related.


Sorry about all the sports stuff. Not everybody's a fan, I know, but I needed a few more events as filler for some of the years where there weren't enough huge political events.

Wow, you remember stuff from the '00s a lot better than I do from the '90s. Honestly, I remember barely any political or world events from the '90s until about 1996.
