Subject: '00s hair you remember?
Written By: Todd Pettingzoo on 06/13/17 at 5:56 pm
Faux Mohawk.
The beiber
Longish, thick shaggy hair on guys.
Short, messy bob on older women (Kate Gosselin and others)
"Straight, but thick on top" hairstyle. Hard to explain, but I remember Kelly Clarkson, Paris Hilton and others sporting it at one time.
That "fried blonde wavy curls" look on women.
What do you remember?

Spiky hair - frosted tips and non- frosted.

I remember Beiber hair
I remember spiky gelled hair which actually lasted a long time over here in Ireland it stayed till about 2012! :o
In the early 2000's this cut was popular with boys which I'm glad I never had! :P http://static.businessinsider.com/image/51eed3be6bb3f76245000006/image.jpg
I remember my cousin in England had hair like this in 2007

There was also a girl in my class who had hair like this in late 2006/early 2007 except with a ponytail. Anyone know what it's called?

The bowl cut is more of a 1995-1998 style, not really early 00's in the US.
But, back to my main topic:
Spiky hair
Emo swoop
"Mohawk"

I think Canada is similar. There was a good chunk of my graduating class in 2010 that still put gel and spiked their hair. There was even a kid people nicknamed "porcupine", his hair was completely whack ;D
And me and my friends had that kid hairstyle in the late 1990s/early 2000s! It's actually pretty creepy how everyone had it.
For girls I remember a lot of girls had stick straight LONG hair. Like, really long. Some people had it go down past their waist. That was early-mid 2000s mostly. Short hair was pretty popular too of course, like the one you posted. In the mid-late 2000s some of them started to become more emo-inspired.
In the late 2000s I noticed hair getting shorter and people putting on more waved and curls. Bangs were almost essential too.
Early-mid 2000s (2002-2006), stick straight

Mid-late 2000s (2006-2008), emo inspired

Late 2000s (2007-2010/11), I'm looking at my 2008-09 school year photo and every other girl has this hair... I mean it's quite inoffensive haha.

It was still pretty prominent in the early 2000's (sadly). I remember most of my friends in Kindergarten & 1st Grade having either that or the Late 90's/Early 00's Frosted tips ;D.

Was about to say this. The bowl cut was out by 1999 and you stopped seeing them completely after about 2001 or so. It's peak was about 1996-1998.
Anyways, here is the defining hairstyle of the '00s.

The wavier variation of that haircut was very popular during this time, too.

I hated that look. Every Disney Channel boy at the time was adopting that hairstyle. 8-P

Nearly every YouTuber had it as well. Both Smosh guys did I know, as did Fred, Joey Graceffa, and Shane Dawson.

The bowl cut was pretty much gone by the year 2000. I was in eighth grade in the 1999-2000 school year and I only remember a couple of guys in my class that still had it. It was probably as high as 50% of guys a few years earlier.
