What would the vibe of 2009 be had the economic crash of November 2008 had not happened ?

It would have happened sooner or later... it was kinda inevitable....

2007 was when it started but 2008 was when Americans really started looking at it.... especially after Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy on September 15th, 2008.

I remember thinking, instinctively, in 1999, that there was going to be an economic crash at the earliest 2006, and at the latest, 2008.

I remember 2008-2011 having an upbeat, goofy vibe despite the economic woes around that time.

I actually agree. 2009 was a good year for me with the Yankees winning the World Series defeating the Philadelphia Phillies  :P.

Thinking about a Powerpoint presentation I did in early 2007 about what technology I thought would get popular in the future, I remember my vision of 2012 being one of hydrogen-powered cars and PDAs/Blackberries replacing flip phones ;D

I guess in terms of pop culture, I expected the 2000s to carry on well into the 2010s. I didn't see people like 50 Cent or Paris Hilton going away. Honestly, early-mid 2008 are still very much core 2000s to me, it was truly the recession that ended it. :-X The early '10s would've had a much stronger 2000s vibe if it wasn't for the recession. So the recession did indeed some spin off benefits.  :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X

I learnt what a recession was in late 2007 in my Business Studies class when they were teaching us about the business cycle. I thought to myself "It would be just our luck if we had one of those soon". Oops.  :-X
