Subject: Favourite 00s Childhood Movies
Written By: HazelBlue99 on 08/29/16 at 6:20 am
I created a similar thread in the 1990's thread. However, I understand that a lot of people grew up watching 2000's kid movies as well, so I thought it would be interesting to create a thread based on 00s childhood movies.
My favourite 2000s Childhood Movies were:
Shrek / 2
Chicken Run
The Tigger Movie
Jimmy Neutron
The Land Before Time
Ice Age
Lilo & Stitch
Scooby Doo
Stuart Little 2 / 3
The Cat In The Hat
The Wild Thornberrys
Finding Nemo
Brother Bear
Elf
Shark Tale
Piglet's Big Movie
Garfield
The Lion King 1.5
Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas
The Polar Express
Spongebob Squarepants Movie
Chicken Little
Hoodwinked!
Madagascar
Robots
Wallace & Gromit
Happy Feet
Flushed Away
Over the Hedge
Surf's Up
Shrek The Halls
Most of them were released in the Early 2000's.

Stuart Little 2
Just out of curiosity, have you (or anyone else) ever watched Stuart Little 3 before? The strangest thing about it, is that unlike the first two films, it is entirely animated. If i'm not mistaken, it was a direct-to-DVD release.
Scooby Doo
Looking back on it now, it's amazing that Scooby Doo (the 2002 adaption) was ever released as a kids movie. Some of the themes in it are pretty dark and there are probably some parents who might not want to expose it to their young children.

I don't think I watched Stuart Little 3 as a kid. Even if I did, I wouldn't like it as much as the first two movies. It would look so cheap compared to the others.

I... kinda liked it. Especially with the sequel. I thought it was just bad, because the people who grew up with the Hanna-Barbara cartoons thought it wasn't like it.

The fact that you remembered those movies as a kid, makes me wish that I put them on my list. Although, I usually confuse Big Momma's House with the Madea series (the only with Tyler Perry), because both of them star as men dressing up as women. As for Are We There Yet, and Fat Albert, those movies were like the sh*t to me.

School of Rock. GOAT childhood movie tbh.
And the Grudge. Well, the movie itself is bad, but I felt like a hero when I retrieved my friends' jackets from the closet because they were scared to do it themselves.

Holy mother of hell, I used to think that movie was great. I've been dying to see that movie (especially the American version) since I tend to grow fond of it.

In my opinion, it wasn't a terrible movie, however the first two movies were definitely better. The Stuart Little movies were one of my favourite movies when I was a kid. Stuart Little 2 was also one of the first games that I had ever played on a gaming console (the PS1 was my first console).
I... kinda liked it. Especially with the sequel. I thought it was just bad, because the people who grew up with the Hanna-Barbara cartoons thought it wasn't like it.
Personally, I thought the sequel was worse than the original movie. Either way, both movies weren't particularly great, in my opinion.

To be fair, the live-action/CGI Scooby Doo movies from the early-mid 2000s were okay, but they aren't masterpieces.

Ohh, I loved the Y2K era Scooby Doo movies. Rented all of them!
Scooby Doo and the Zombie Island
Scooby Doo! and the Witch's Ghost
Scooby Doo and the Alien Invaders
Scooby Doo and the Space Chase
I especially liked the last two with their space theme. In the Space Chase VHS, there's actually a segment in the end that gives tips and tricks on how to beat Scooby Doo and the Classic Creep Capers for the Nintendo 64. I thought that was pretty neat, I went out and rented the game the next day. ;D

I thought of them as comedies as well, considering that's the premise of the Scooby Doo franchise.

Scooby Doo can never be as scary as Zombie Island and the movie where Scrappy Doo was the villain. I can picture a horror Scooby Doo and its a joke. I do know that Shaggy and Scooby will live. I would be sad for Velma, but for Fred and Daphne, I just wouldn't care. Only renewed character development can save them.
In the long run, the series isn't for me.

Haha, true, it's really hard for it to be scary. I watched some new episodes though and they were decent.

Some of the earlier kids movies from the first few years of the '00s, when I was still young enough to watch those types of movies. The last kids movie that I actually watched at the theatre was the Pokemon the Movie 2000 movie. My parents took my best bud and younger brother with us to watch it. Honestly, we were both 12 at the time and starting to get to the age where it was seen as geeky to watch stuff like that.
