2000-2005 was more of a slow evolution  rather than a transition lol

I hardly post in the 90's forum either unless it has something to do with the late 90's. I only care about the pop culture from the late 90's and onwards since that's all I'm really familiar with from being alive, therefore I mostly post on the 2000's, 2010's, and more than a decade forums. While I'll post stuff on Ask Me or Sports Zone sometimes.

My main memories of 2006 are entering high school, Italy winning FIFA 2006, PS3 and Wii/Nintendo Revolution hype, the My Chemical Romance album, iPod obsession and DS vs PSP wars raging on. I used to go to the library every weekend so I could edit Wikipedia articles related to my home town/province and I was a regular on Habbo Hotel (a chat room). I was a weird kid.

I have respect for the 90's, since it's when my parents got married and when a lot of my cousins and friends were born including myself.

I prefer the mainstream/youth culture of the early & mid 90's, like the epic music, sitcoms, FOX, MTV, Atlanta Braves, NFL & NBA at the time, 1996 Olympics, '92 & '96 elections, 4th generation gaming, etc.

but I prefer the kid culture of the late 90's though, like 5th generation gaming, Pokemon, 1st half of CN's golden age, late 90's Nick, pre-1999 PBS Kids (afternoons), golden age of Kids WB, etc.

It would have been fun to experience the whole decade with clear memory had I been older, but honestly I'm proud that I grew up in the 2000's and the 2010's. I wouldn't want to be younger or older than what I already am.

I feel you. I'm glad I seen at least bits of the mid-late 90s, experienced the Early-mid 2000s. Now we're in a era that's truly suck.

I feel like 2004 was pretty much real 2000's and closer to 2005 and 2006 but still had to shake off some of the 1998-2002 era whereas 2005 and 2006 are pretty much identical.

I'm gonna give an overall rundown of how I personally experienced 2006.

I remember still being blown away and addicted to Wikipedia:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/af/Wiki_homepage_161006.png

I heard these songs a lot:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH476CxJxfg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd2B6SjMh_w

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J3vgcE5i2o

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtwJvgPJ9xw

As well as its Weird Al parody!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9qYF9DZPdw

Unfortunately, there was also stuff like this to put up with:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SBN_ikibtg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90HUOD5b8EI

I joined my very first internet forum at the beginning of the year, remaining highly active until literally the end of 2006!

http://cdn-thumbshot.pearltrees.com/9b/e8/9be89e7f19ccd2ea29388f90cbab5d7e-pearlsquare.jpg

Disneyland is in easy driving distance from where I live, but for a change, we decided to visit Disney World in Orlando for Spring Break.

https://timebusinessblog.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/disneyworld1.jpg?w=480&h=320&crop=1

Over the summer, I participated in my first simfile contest for StepMania, an open source simulator for Dance Dance Revolution, at Bemanistyle.com and made it to the finals.

http://www.positivegaming.com/positivegaming/assets/images/community/bemanistyle.jpg

I played a whole lot of this during the middle months of the year:

http://g01.s.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1RmzWKVXXXXcYXpXXq6xXFXXXz/Arcade-Dance-Game-Machine-In-The-Groove.jpg_350x350.jpg

In fact, just listening to anything produced by Kyle Ward, the primary in-house composer for In the Groove, immediately transports me back to 2006.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yuo5_EO4TzU

Coming from a very Japanophilic set of online communities, I got interested in Utada Hikaru.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tcS3pVgdsA

That, however, is nothing compared to when I discovered Super Eurobeat in early November and became addicted to eurobeat music for the next eight years.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WhB9O9bIFw

My family also moved into a newer, bigger house (though still in the same area) in June 2006.  We still live there to this day.

Holy sheesh, I just singled out the images that meant the most to me.

I remember the teen girls on myspace and bebo. They were so cute. Oh to be a teenager again. Women's peak years are 17-25, after that they loose that cute look. Also I feel like we had the perfect balance of technology in the mid 2000s.

And holy sheesh, Superman Returns, I remember when that was the brand spanking "new school" Superman. I bemoaned it because I was watching Lois and Clark reruns at the time and I wanted Superman Returns to be more like that. I know it was a premier movie and Lois and Clark was a low budget TV series but still. Even "Man of Steel" was THREE years ago now!! Time is flying!

Lastly, from the Mean Girls poster, wow, they were hot stuff. I would love to make a banana split out of all of them :-X I loved the women's fashion back then, it just ain't the same anymore. Wearing their jeans super low so that you could see the shaven pubic area and belly button, so sexual! It drove me mad as a horny teenager.

I wish I could just go back and live in the mid 2000s permanently. Everything seemed the right balance back then. I know it is just because I am wearing rose tinted glasses because I was a teenager then but I really miss that era.

I totally wouldn't mind reliving the mid 2000s. I miss when girls whore jeans to. It was interesting how they instantly just automatically adapted to jeans. A true guilty pleasure. Is there seriously anymore room for me? Haha I actually had a teacher, 26 that looked amazing in jeans in my last year of high school. I would say cute woman peak at 13 from middle school to 26. It can depend on how fast they have kids to. God, I miss teen girls.

If I revive the mid 2000's it be anything 2004 and 2005 related pop culturally from a kid's viewpoint. I was in 2nd-4th grade at the time and really miss that simpler time greatly!

I would to. 2006 was good, but 2004-2005 were amazing.

I wish I could relive the mid 2000s too. It would be fun going through the pop culture from the mid '00s again.

I don't know if I dislike the mid 2000s more or the late 2000s  ;D

Everything went downhill after Summer of '04 man  :\'(

I totally wouldn't mind reliving the mid 2000s. I miss when girls whore jeans to. It was interesting how they instantly just automatically adapted to jeans. A true guilty pleasure. Heh, yes, all aboard! You sound similar to me. Gotta admit, your teens has the potential to be the best years of your life. Everything is happening at that point, you are old enough to do most adult things like work a job, drive, have sex, yet you are still young and even average looking girls look good without the wear and tear of time on their faces. Sadly I wasted my teens being too shy to talk to anyone. That is a big reason for my yearning for my teenage years again, but it would have to be in the 00s, it wouldn't feel right in any other decade.

I remember my days at the youth club admiring the teenage girls from afar but never talking to them, I wish I had just dived in there and made a fool of myself to get over the shyness. One of the things I try to do is to capture the essence of what it would feel like if it were the 00s again, the sights, the sounds, the smells, what was popular at the time, that kind of thing to try and stir up memories from those years.

Anyway, I am rambling, if only we could build a time machine bud! You and me both.

2004 and 2005 were simply godlike. I can't believe they're now over 10 years old.

I enjoyed 2004-2005. From a personal life point they were fun years. And I still love the summer of 2005.

Not rambling in the slightest. I completely agree. I wasted my teen years being shy, to. I would say more worst. I was a mindless no brainer. I passed up some cute girls in my life, man. Its critically haunting me with how I constantly think of the past. And I need it because I like remembering I was actually wanted at the same time. Basically, I don't even care for my future aside from finishing my novel.

It was enjoyful for me during late 2004 and 2005. Everything was really cool to me, especially the movies and TV at the time.

Highschool Musical came out in 2006. Also the Fifa World Cup happened in 06' too. I was still a kid in 2006 in grade 5.

2006 personally was decent, but culturally not a great year. :(  2005 on the other hand... WAS EPIC! :D

The year saw A LOT of change in pop culture and some things in my personal life felt brand new as well. The year looked and felt brand new to me! Maybe because I also turned 11 as well.

I liked late 2006 pop culturally, summer and afterwards. I can't remember well what happened in the beginning (other than that Israel-Lebanon war). It looks like a continuation of 2005 for the most part.

Anyone remember when text-based web browser games were really popular? I can't remember the exact name of the website, it was "NewYorkMafia" or something like that. It was basically about stealing cars, robbing banks and pickpocketing, and then selling the stuff you bought so you could buy better stealing equipment. If you got caught you would go to jail and not be able to play again for like 20 minutes, unless you got your friend to release you from jail. I remember it being very popular in my school late 2005/early 2006.

Another game that was very popular was Counterstrike. We loaded it onto USBs and we played it on the school computers, and some people would bring their laptops over. It was very addictive haha.

Heh, yeah, I am very retrospective too. Every now and then I will see something like the design of a popular brand's logo or have another sensation like a smell or taste of a food or drink item that takes me right back to those days. That was the main reason for me signing up to these boards actually, to help remember stuff from the 2000s before it becomes too much of a faded memory. I am glad someone here can relate to my sense of lost years :\'( I am not really much of a "look to the future-er myself either. Peace bud.
