I did notice there were a few comebacks back in 2005. Greenday, Madonna's Confessions album, Mariah.
There were several others, as well. Among them:
+ The Rolling Stones - A Bigger Bang
+ Kate Bush - Aerial
+ Bon Jovi - Have a Nice Day
+ Stevie Wonder - A Time to Love
+ Gorillaz - Demon Days (their first album in four years, with another blur album in-between)
+ System of a Down - Mezmerize
+ Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine
+ Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth
+ Foo Fighters - In Your Honor
+ Paul McCartney - Chaos and Creation in the Backyard
+ Weezer - Make Believe
+ Depeche Mode - Playing the Angel
+ Kraftwerk - Minimum-Maximum
+ Neil Diamond - 12 Songs
+ John Hiatt - Master of Disaster
+ Judas Priest - Angel of Retribution
+ Will Smith - Lost and Found
+ Garbage - Bleed Like Me
+ INXS - Switch
+ Common - Be
+ Backstreet Boys - Never Gone
There was also a song by Baby Bash that year called "Baby I'm Back," which isn't explicitly about the rapper making a musical comeback like Mase's Welcome Back from the previous year, but the fact that it was the lead-off single to his sophomore album causes it to feel like a comeback song, regardless.

Here's my personal life's 'feelings' for these years.
2000- Read Harry Potter like crazy!
2001- Was still interested in Top 40 music, but didn't really like it, at the same time. I know, contradictory, huh?
2002- Catholic Church controversies, anthrax attacks, George Bush, a really political year. Had I been in a better place mentally, I would have read politics more.
2003- A really happy, optimistic year, for me.
2004- Another bouncy, happy year. I lost weight, but gained due to well...bad habits. Got interested in Family Guy for the first time. Early high school years. Went to Vietnam for a second time.
2005- Rap, rap, and more rap. That's all i remember.
2006- Myspace baby! I actually liked it at the time.
2007- A fun year. Don't exactly know why. Just liked the energy of the year!
2008- Another fun year. I think the news was fun to watch that year, due to the election. I loved watching both sides (Democrats and Republicans) tear each other up. LOL.
2009- Worse year of my whole life.....so far. Let's let it stay that way.

2008 - Beijing 2008 Olympics, Stolen Generation apology, Barack Obama elected, Beyonce, Iron Man film release, Katy Perry, MP3's, Facebook
2009 - Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Rhianna,
Personally
2000 - A year old, first memory, Parents divorced at the end of the year.
2001 - Turned two in March, my first holiday trip, vaguely remember 9/11, started getting into Thomas the Tank Engine, Bob the Builder etc.
2002 - Started to draw a lot, first year I have clear memories of (albeit, not many), start of my childhood, can remember the Bali Bombings.
2003 - Started pre-school, received PS2 & Gameboy Advance SP for Christmas, first year I can vividly remember, first holiday inter-state,
2004 - Turned five, Really started to get into music, 2nd year of pre-school, started to go for an NRL team, 1st Olympics I can remember.
2005 - Started primary (elementary) school, collector cards, received 1st TV for my bedroom, bunk bed, chicken pox,
2006 - Developed a big interest in astronomy, went on my 1st holiday to Tasmania, watched Happy Feet in cinemas,

To be honest, I've always considered 2003 to be the start of my childhood. It was the first year I can remember things vividly, I started pre-school and I received a PS2 and Gameboy Advance SP for Christmas. 2002 could be the start of my childhood, but it's a bit iffy, in my opinion. What do you think? Would you consider 2002 or 2003 to be the start of a 99'er's childhood?

I'd say whatever you can remember before the age of 13 is your childhood, who can say otherwise? ;D
