The commercial itself in terms of footage is from 1990, but the background music used "Come see the softer side of Sears", this probably aired between 1993 and 1999. In 2005, Sears changed its logo from SEARS to Sears but it in the same font used since 1984, and in 2010 it changed again from Sears to sears with a different font. You also see similar things for some other long-running commercials, with sometimes differences in graphics/music, for example Life cereal's Mikey.

A bunch of that describes my middle school years quite well. I was really into Dragon Ball Z and Gundam Wing back then, so I usually tried to catch Toonami every day if I could. I was also a huge wrestling fan during the Y2K years. I would always watch WCW Nitro live and tape WWF Raw so I could watch it the next day, at least until around 1998 or so when the Austin/McMahon fued got going, and WCW started going downhill. That summer I started taping Nitro and watching Raw live. Either way, I didn't miss a single episode of either show between 1996 and 2001.

I REALLY enjoyed and recall almost all the 2001 commercials,It was my first FULL year keeping track of the product, and as you already know that it's my fav CN year besides 2002.
