My Jan 1 2000 born cousin is turning 15... he was a boy the last time I saw him.

My little brother was born in 1999, he's well into his teens now. Even my sister born in 2001 is a teen now and is nearly as tall as my 20 year old sister.

I know, 2000 felt like ages ago because it was my youth.
You know whats crazy? We flew through the decade in no time flat. 2007 came just like that.
But now that I'm transitioning in college, 2017 feels like the far, far future.

I can't believe it will almost be 20 years since the year 2000. That makes me feel old because I still remember the days when the '80s were 20 years ago. So the fact that the 2000s will become like what the '80s were, and that I actually lived and remember that time well, it just blows my mind!

That's how I was thinking about it lol. That when I was in the 2000s, the 80s were only 2 decades ago and soon the same will apply for the 2000s :o :-\\

2003 is almost 15 years ago. I was thinking about it when I watched the movie "Elf" (from 2003). The movie doesn't seem like it's that old, but the children in the movie are all grown up. Meanwhile in that movie, the child star of "A Christmas Story" (Peter Billingsby) is already grown and plays one of the elves in that movie. Where does the time go? I'd getting old!

A lot of movies from the early 2000s that have been remastered into HD look very new and recent. I caught a movie from 2002 about baseball (can't remember the name), and I expected to be hit with nostalgia, but it looked so modern.

In a way it makes sense though, 14/15 years isn't all that long. I remember watching movies like Sister Act in 2005, and I had no idea it was made in the early '90s, I thought it was a recent movie.

Wow, 18 years now. It was a long time ago. The world felt more innocent pre-9/11. Things like cellphones and Internet were the hot new trendy tech. After the Dot-Com bubble, I remember many people proclaiming that the Internet was a fad. Now all these things are an established part of our lives. :D

I feel like I have the 21st century equivalent of knowing the world before TV sets at home become common and pre-JFK assassination, even though I'm not that old ;D

This is an accurate representation of how movies would show off the year 2025 in New York City. Now if this ends up becoming real (or somewhat close) then I'll label the 2020s as the best decade of all time in terms of aesthetics.

Just reading this already makes me excited for the 2020's.

As someone who has never been to NYC it seemed to me it looked something like that already ;D

If the 2020s has a more futuristic aesthetic to it (I don't expect a crazy futuristic look from say movies like Blade Runner 2049....... although 2049 takes place 14 years after 2025 anyway) then I'll be excited for it. Technology is growing fast and having things like flashy neon lights and holographic designs everywhere easily make the decade look flashy and cool to me. Especially since holograms and fancy neon lights are things that we can do right now. If we can make automatic self driving cars and early examples of walking talking robots that interact with then I say the future is coming for sure.

It's more so just how movies tend to portray the future. Blade Runner 2049 is a good example. Cinematic futures are always fun to watch.

Yeah, it is funny to think that 2025 is the same distance in years from today as 2011 is. New York's time square always look appealing since it's literally a single area that is over flowing with pop culture. With it's big screens and crazy lights advertising the latest news and products. What really shocks me is that in 2025 we'll all be 7 years older. We'll have so much happening in lives and when we look back on these old posts we'll just laugh.

Although I still want that futuristic 2025. Cinematic future aesthetics always get me.

Well no one really thought that. Again most of the images I've shown you were really just cinematic futures. Heck people thought the 2010s was gonna be future and here we are today still wondering why robots haven't taken over the world yet.

To be fair, when I started primary school in 2005 we had to write what we thought the world would be like in 2020. I did think that there would be flying cars and teleportation. ;D

By 2020 I hoped for walking robots and holograms. I still think these may happen, but we might have to wait until the 2090s or later. I also was certain we'd have flying cars, but my imagination was clearly exaggerated. ;D

That's New York City according to the artist that made it. The image has taken inspiration from Cyberpunk where if you watch Cyberpunk films you'd see that in places like the US there has been some Asian take over from places like Korea, China, and Japan.

That already looks futuristic! This photo is also of Toronto's Dundas Square taken a few weeks back.

Now that looks pretty futuristic.

It's a given fact to some people that if it isn't night time and there aren't a bunch of neon lights and monitor lights then it ain't the future.

I grew up with that in mind too! The 90s as the "Previous decade" and the 70s as "30 years ago", insane to think in only a few years the 90s would be the "30 years ago" instead :o.

Yeah it's crazy. And in a mere 12 years, the 2010s will be 20 years. It's just really gonna trip me up but I don't know if as you get older 20 years seems to feel a lot shorter.

2000 is closer to songs like "Every Breath You Take" by The Police than it is to music from today, that's crazy! It seems weird because there is that idea that everything after the new millennium is "modern" but really the concept of time never changes.
That's actually a cool idea for a game, "post 3 songs with the same ammount of years between" :P
