Subject: 2005: The Year In Music.

:D I think this was the year of the boys. :)

Backstreet Boys: Incomplete
UK Singles Chart #8 Billboard Hot 100 Chart #13
Empty spaces
fill me up with holes
distant faces
with no place left to go
Without you within me
I can't find no rest
where I'm going
is anybody's guess
I try to go on like
I never knew you
I'm awake
but my world
is half alseep
I pray for this
heart to be unbroken
but without you all I'm
going to be is incomplete
Voices tell me I should cary on
but I am swimming
in an ocean all alone
Baby, my baby,
it's written on your face
you still wonder if we made
a big mistake
I try to go on like
I never knew you
I'm awake
but my world
is half alseep
I pray for this
heart to be unbroken
but without you all I'm
going to be is incomplete
I don't mean to drag it on
but I can't seem to let you go
I don't want to make you face
this world alone
Don't want to let you go
I try to go on like
I never knew you
I'm awake
but my world
is half alseep
I pray for this
heart to be unbroken
but without you all I'm
going to be is incomplete
Incomplete. :)

The Black Eyed Peas had hits with "Don't Phunk With My Heart", "Don't Lie", and "My Humps" that year.
Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway album (whose title track had been a hit the previous year) also generated the singles "Behind These Hazel Eyes" and "Because Of You" (as well as "Since U Been Gone", which carried over from late '04).

What is a Jikuhari girl? ???
It's "Harajuku girl." A girl who hangs out in the Harajuku district of Toyko, which is the epicenter of Japanese subculture.
The term was popularized by Gwen Stefani, who always kept a posse of flashily dressed Japanese girls with her (there's no actual style called "Harajuku Girl.")

"Home" is a song recorded by Canadian singer Michael Bublé, and released on March 28, 2005, as the second single from his second major-label studio album, It's Time. The song was written by Bublé, along with co-writers Alan Chang and Amy Foster-Gillies.

"Touch My Fire" is the fifth single by UK R&B star Javine. The single was the UK's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest for 2005 and her first for Island Records. It was the first new material from Javine since her debut album, "Surrender", was released in 2004.
The single reached the #18 in the UK singles chart, her fifth consecutive top 20 hit. The version on the single, however, was slightly different from the one that appeared on the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 album, with an extra verse and shorter dance break.

Can you believe that this was number one ten years ago today?
In 2005, Crazy Frog recorded the song, releasing it as "Axel F" but also known as the "Crazy Frog song". The novelty song is Crazy Frog's first and most internationally successful single. It is a cover of Harold Faltermeyer's 1984 composition "Axel F", produced by Matthias Wagner and Andreas Dohmeyer, the two members of Off-cast Project, and Henning Reith and Reinhard "DJ Voodoo" Raith, two members of the German dance production team Bass Bumpers. Wolfgang Boss and Jamster! arranged the remix, and later marketed it as a ringtone.Crazy Frog recorded the song, releasing it as "Axel F" but also known as the "Crazy Frog song". Honestly, this was the year that music started to become truly rotten, in my opinion, before bottoming out completely in 2006. It feels like popular music around the summer of this year started to become less rhythmically complex, as was the case in the first half of the 2000s, and instead topped the charts for being needlessly crass and childish. Hip hop was is the primary avenue of this, due to the rise of abominable dirty south songs like Laffy Taffy and Grind with Me, but this decline definitely reared its ugly head in the pop world as well, as represented by ridiculous tracks such as Don't Cha, Hollaback Girl, and My Humps being the definitive hits of the year. I distinctly remembered that I stopped following the Now albums after volume 19 (summer, 2005), and pretty much gave up on popular music completely by the start of 2006. When Lady Gaga came out towards the end of 2008, it was a serious breath of fresh air to finally hear something of musical substance again and which wasn't just raunchy trash.
The rock music released this year was much more bearable than the pop and hip hop topping the charts, but for the most part, it still paled in comparison to what came out earlier in the decade. There were a few really good songs, like System of a Down's B.Y.O.B. and Bon Jovi's Have a Nice Day, but the fast-paced fun of blink-182 and Sum 41 was now being replaced by so-so acts like Fall Out Boy and the All-American Rejects.

I think "My Humps" was annoying as are most "Black Eyed Peas" songs.. "Don't Cha" I don't think has aged/dated well. "Hollaback Girl" wasn't that bad.

The bold part really goes to show how these discussions are largely a waste of time, and are incredibly subjective and based on one's own personal taste. I've never heard anyone describe Lady Gaga as being a breath of fresh air, of all things, and I absolutely despise her music, and find herself as a person to be desperate and annoying. Katy Perry is pretty bad too - but I just hate how teeny-bop her music is. Really girly and grinding.
Conversely, there's a lot of stuff from 2005 that I like. It's the year of Akon's 'Lonely', which I liked at the time and still like now, and Rihanna's Pon De Replay, and Daniel Power's Had a Bad Day.
I remember hearing this song on the radio and I found it really depressing but strangely appealing. I think it speaks to me as a person because every day is a bad day LOL.
