Subject: 2002 The Year In Music.

This is probably the most promising year for music. :) Two boy band prodigies went solo that year and one of them got arrested for disorderly conduct if I remember correctly. :)

Ah yes... American Idol premiered that year, and Kelly was the winner in the first season. And of course, this was her first hit single... and other American Idol participants began to follow in her footsteps. She's still recording these days as well.

I remember that one too. In fact, several young female singers debuted that year.
One such artist, Avril Lavigne, was 17 years old upon releasing her debut album, Let Go, featuring the hit singles "Complicated", "Sk8Er Boi", and "I'm With You."

Vanessa Carlton was a one-hit wonder. I don't think her music was popular outside of "Thousand Miles".
Actually, she had a follow-up hit with "Ordinary Day", but that wasn't quite as big a hit. Also "White Houses" a couple years later... but then again, not as successful on the charts either.
Oh...and she also provided background vocals on the Counting Crows' cover of "Big Yellow Taxi" (and there's one mix of that song without her vocals as well), which was popular in late '02/early '03.

Her song 'Pretty Baby' also charted in 2002.
Plus her song Nolita Fairytale was a moderate hit in 2008.

I sorta know this cover of the song made famous by the group The Romantics c. 1980. In fact, this version became the theme song for the same-named sitcom on the WB network in '02. I was actually a big fan of the show during its first season, as it had an interesting storyline, but I couldn't watch it every week due to various circumstances.

Michelle Branch's debut album, The Spirit Room, which was released in 2001, had three tracks which became hits. The first one, "Everywhere", was a hit in the summer of 2001, but her follow up single, "All You Wanted", was released as a single in early 2002:

Later in the year, "Goodbye To You" was a hit (different song than the Scandal/Patty Smyth song from 1984).

Incredible song. Brings me back to the carefree days of good ole 2002!
Papa Roach released Lovehatetragedy, continuing the Yo-Yo Homeboy Nu Metal sound from Infest. Most fans of their older stuff consider this their last good album

I remember when everyone and their mother loved Nu Metal in 2002.
2002 is also a big year for KoRn with Untouchables. What fans call the "last classic." This is probably their heaviest album and is also Johnathan Davis' 2nd favorite out of their discography.

Man, that whole 2002 white boy dread trend was... Well, it sure was something! I remember how my sister had a crush on this Nu Metal kid and he looked like a member of KoRn. Back then, I had to sit through full listenings of Crazy Town, KoRn, Linkin Park and Papa Roach albums...
2002 is when Emo band Jimmy Eat World releases the singles Sweetness and A Praise Chorus from 2001's Bleed American

This is real Emo right here! Nowadays people think it's all black hair, skinny jeans and eyeliner but not in 2002. 2002 was all about looking like Jimmy Eat World. One thing I really like about A Praise Chorus is that Davey from The Promise Ring makes an appearance; another real Emo band from the 90's/early 00's. I just gotta say, Sweetness is probably one of the greatest songs of all time.
Good Charlotte release The Young and Hopeless, continuing the 1998-2002 era of Pop Punk

I dunno why Pop Punk bands in 2002 felt the need to add raps in all their music. Half way through the song, Joel starts rapping about OJ Simpson out of nowhere. 2002 was chalk full of it, too! Sum 41, Zebrahead and Good Charlotte always adding raps into their songs when you least expect it. I am too nostalgic for this stuff.

Simple Plan is indeed impressive... But what do you mean by that?? You mean technical stuff like their playing (which is really simple but good riffs)? This stuff was super common place from 1998-2002.

"If Tomorrow Never Comes" is a song by American country music artist Garth Brooks, written by Brooks and Kent Blazy. It has subsequently become one of Brooks' most popular songs for other artists to perform. The song has been covered by several artists, including Ronan Keating, who took it to Number 1 in the UK Singles Chart in May 2002.

I meant that it sounds more HD.
