The musical score for The Lord of the Rings films was composed by Howard Shore. It was performed by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Voices, and featured several vocal soloists. Two original songs, "AnĂron" and the end title theme "May It Be", were composed and sung by Enya, who allowed her label, Reprise Records, to release the soundtrack to this and its two sequels.

Incubus "Drive":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7z9oCcxiDM
This one was a hit around the early part of the year, and topped the Modern Rock charts in March. Interestingly enough, it was actually recorded almost two years earlier... but it was still a 2001 hit.
I mainly like it due to its acoustic sound and upbeat tempo, but it also has a good message.

"Rule the World" is a song by English pop band Take That. It was released as the fifth single from their fourth studio album Beautiful World (2006). It was released in the United Kingdom on 21 October 2007 via digital download and as a CD single the following day. Take That performed the song at the London 2012 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony whilst the Olympic Flame was extinguished. Because the song was written for the 2007 fantasy film Stardust, the song was submitted for consideration at the 80th Academy Awards for Best Original Song but was not nominated.

Probably the best year of the decade for music.
Yeah, I love 2001 in terms of music. 2001 is my favorite while 2000,2002, 2003, and 2004 (in short the 1st half of the decade) are the years I like most from the entire decade. But 2001 is the year that I enjoyed the most in terms of music. Nearly every track everyone has posted on here I ended up liking which is something that rarely happens for any other year to me.

Pop Punk band The Ataris release their third album End is Forever on Kung Fu Records
reWDxeUs3-w
5ZgPMES7rwc
That era of the Ataris, starting from their Look Forward to Failure EP up to So Long Astoria, is their best. They were definitely at the top of their game back then. Teenage Riot is your standard classic Pop Punk song but Summer Wind is the perfect blend of Emo and Pop Punk which only few bands have been able to do. Speaking of which....
Emo-Pop Punk band The Movielife release the EP The Movielife Has a Gambling Problem
hxMxu-3HjdE
1MwCIXadLDE
These guys, along with The Get Up Kids and Promise Ring, are the quintessential Emo-Pop Punk band. Aside from the bands mentioned, no band has been able to blend the two sounds so well as The Movielife have. They will always be one of my favorites.
Sum 41 release All Killer, No Filler which brings them major success
nTUdsCiJrAY
JoC3PUBmhFs
The Sums from 2000 to 2002 were top notch Pop Punk hands down. This album, along with Half Hour and Does This Look Infected, should be on every Pop Punk fans list for good listening. Fast, fun and loud. Peroxide included.
Real Emo band Jimmy Eat World release Bleed American
Ft1lxiWFbDk
oKsxPW6i3pM
This is real Emo, not that Hawthorne Heights Kenny G Emo garbage. Jimmy Eat World are one of the best bands from that era.
Nu Metal Yo-Yo Homeboyz Linkin Park release more singles from Sensitive-Rap album Hybrid Theory
Gd9OhYroLN0
vjVkXlxsO8Q
eVTXPUF4Oz4
These guys look like Frat-Metal dicks but they whine just as much as those silly Emo kids with their argyle sweater vests and thick rimmed glasses. What gives Linkin Park?
Speaking of Frat-Rap, MC Freddy Durst releases more singles from his "pimpin" album Hot Dog Star Fish Chocolate Waters
Dn8vzTsnPps
qex0OjXolzc
Seriously, ever since it's come out, I've never actually remembered the name of the album. It sucks, though! Stop compensating Fred, we've all seen how you preform.
KoRn Jr. Adema release their debut and everybody seems to love it
tYTwIZslZXo
QTOKnYNI3tU
You're Jonathan Davis' half-brother yet you sound more like Linkin Park than KoRn. You even whine like them, too. Do I suspect some jealously, Mr. Adema? I don't understand what the hell he's singing about in Way You Like It. Only dudes go to Adema shows, you're not fooling anyone.

Looking back some of the songs are still cool. But now I'm just not into Nu-Metal. I'm surprised I liked it so much lol
I'm surprised so many people liked it in general. Smelly dreadlocks and bad raps! Creed, too. I don't know why anyone liked Creed.

On the topic of Pearl Jam, I don't mind a few of their songs. The only one that comes to mind at the moment though is "Daughter". But if it were a different vocalist. I don't like the way Vedder sings. But what did the band release in 2001? Nothing even noteable.

I think I should bring up System of A Down, since they had an album released in 2001. I remember listening to their music when I felt depressed in 2012-early 2013, and heavy metal/rock music were the only things I liked music wise. Here are my favorite songs from the album.

That song was everywhere back in the late 2000s. It was like one of the Internet's anthems back then.

I will always remember 2 things about that song.
1. I got a promo single CD and bumper sticker from this girl that was promoting them
2. It was in XXX when Xander drove the car off the bridge
