That's similar to something I realized a few days ago. Reposting from the Gen Z thread:

Those that were in kindergarten for the '99-'00 school year just graduated high school this past Spring. So there is officially no one left in school who started their formal education in the '90s. Unless some people failed and had to repeat a year of course, lol. Though we'll still have people born in the 90s in high school up through the class of 2018, which will include the late '99ers.

I knew about that for some time now, but when you think about it, people born in 1997 are due for their sweet 16s soon. How time goes by.

How time goes by. I still remember how I was shocked when 90's birth years did show-up on lists which were posted at my school.

But teenagers won't be 18 until 2018.

Howard, I think what he meant was that people born in the year 2000 will be "thirteen" in 2013...thirteen is considered a teenager.

Just realized that a couple of days ago.  I mean, think about it. These kids have no recollection of a pre-9/11 world, let alone, even remember 9/11. They most likely don't remember dial-up Internet (or the sound of it) and a time when social media didn't exist since they basically grew up with it. Makes me feel...old.

This is very scary and I'm not really looking forward to it.  ::) By 2015 there's gonna be people in high school that were born when I was in high school. Grown looking high school kids born in '97 already make me feel ancient, I still kinda see them in diapers tbh ROFL. ::)

That's interesting about the diapers comment. When I was young I used to babysit a little girl (friend of the family), change her diapers and all that goes with it. In a few months she will be 39 years old  :o  And when I talk to her or email her now, I kinda still see her as a 2-year-old in diapers..

Certainly. There are also plenty of old threads about my birth year on the net; maybe not about turning 13, but more about 18 or 21.

I actually remember nearly a decade ago on inthe80s people posting about how 1990 born teenagers made them feel old in 'Reasons Children of the 80s Feel Old'. It's kinda crazy to think the 90's are now as old as the 80's were when I read that list as a 12/13 year old!
