It would take me awhile to really sit down and make a list, but I'll just contribute what I can think of now.
Unreal Tournament 2004 (PC, 2004)
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2, 2002)
Grandia II (Dreamcast, 2000)
Super Mario Galaxy (2007, Wii)
I agree with Diablo 2 and WoW as well. I played Diablo 2 for many years.

What I would also add:
GTA: San Andreas (PS2, 2004) - I remember my peers, mostly guys, raving about this back then.
Kingdom Hearts (PS2, 2002) - Enjoyed playing this years ago

We use to be addicted to Resident Evil for much of the 2000s. The only ones I ever played were RE 0-3, the Outbreak Files and Code Veronica X. Never played RE 4 but I use to watch as it was being played. Another one I remember from the 00s is Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness, I wouldn't say it was the best but I remember it well.

The 00s were actually a pretty damn good for video games. A list of just some of my many personal favorites:
- Bioshock (Xbox 360, 2007)
- Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube and PS2, 2005)
- Persona 4 (PS2, 2008)
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2, 2002)
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andres (PS2, 2004)
- Paper Mario (Nintendo 64, 2001)
- The Phoenix Wright series (well known in Japan but no so much in the US, DS, 2005-2008)
- Jet Grind Radio (Dreamcast, 2000)
- Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (DS, 2005)
- Super Smash Brothers Melee (Gamecube, 2001)

the 2004-2006 era for video games were amazing. Although i remember not being impressed in nov of 2005 when xbox 360 was in a EB games kiosk and it was showing call of duty , little did i know that would be the game that would be the future of the late 00s and early 2010s.
Anybody that played videogames in the 00s knew that ps2 was the system 2 have. infact ps2 became the best selling system of all time

Hey Tattoo, I got rid of my PS2 cause it was so clunky and sometimes it dropped everytime I tripped over the wires so I wound up getting a PS3 and it's much better than the PS2.
