I re-listened Daft Punk's songs that came out in 2001, and the songs "One More Time" and "Bigger Faster Stronger Harder", aka the song Kanye West off, had autotone up the nose. Of course they were an electronic band, but they did usher in the use of auto-tone.
Even though late 90s, Eiffel 65 uses autotone in their music too.

When Daft Punk does it, it's good.
The only bad thing about Daft Punk was that they got killed in 'Tron Legacy' :(

Also I'd say "Die Another Day" has autotune. "Rapture" by iiO too. I loved both of those.
