Subject: If they made Welcome Back Kotter in today's Hollywood?

Which actors/actresses could you see playing in the iconic roles from the 70's t.v. show?

What differences would there be in the classrooms of today as compared to the television classroom of the 70's?

It's already in production in a new Urbanized remake.  Ice Cube takes on the role as Gabe Kotter, and was even given the A'OK approval from Kaplan himself.

it'd probably be an hour long drama kinda like Boston Public....  but focusing on one core group of students and their teacher rather than focusing on the teachers and, occasionally,  a few students.  ;)

I don't believe they could do this successfully. Travolta's Vinne barbarino was excellent and showed Travolta's star qualities. These qualities do not come along everyday. Today's young actors are weak in comparison....

I doubt they could replace any of the cast successfully. They all had their unique quirks.

The only way to do this would be to change it all up completely and then they lose the endearing facets of the original show.  It will not last past the first season...
