Subject: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/04/09 at 4:18 pm

Other than the New Years Looney Tunes marathon (plus the TCM Chuck Jones showcase, a few compilation movies and the recent airing of that lame Halloween special), Looney Tunes might be back on US television. Though according to Zap2it tv schedule site.  8)

Starting Sunday, November 15 there's a 6 hour marathon starting at 1:00 PM and starting on the 17th the cartoons might supposedly air on 11:00 AM.

Well, vintage Pink Panther cartoons are currently airing at 12:30 PM along with the omnipresent Tom & Jerry and the overexposed Scooby Doo...we'll have to wait and see...

Is it the originals or are they going to make new ones?  They would probably ruin it if they tried to make new ones.

I agree dag.

I hope it is the originals, they were so funny.  However, in today's PC world, I doubt this would happen.

Come to Canada.  Looney Tunes are on alot.  We got The Road Runner Show, The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show, and Merrie Melodies all on Teletoon Retro 8)

It's the originals

TV Guide site also lists Looney Tunes, but Cartoon Network's listings only goes up to the 11th (or only within a week).

Toon Zone, Golden Age Cartoons, and Cartoon Brew might give some details about Looney Tunes on Cartoon Network.

Ever go to Big Cartoon Database?

If not...I may ask them (bcdb) if CN will be playing Looney Tunes more often. If so...I'm getting cable by the next year!

I don't visit BCDB, though you could ask if anybody has more details. (how many weeks, the cartoons included on the marathon). :)

I can do that for you...that's how I found out about that cartoon with the ironing board. (And yes, I'm a Forum Member on that site too).

According to Toon Zone. Looney Tunes isn't on Boomerang on December.

The "Meddling Kids" block airs twice (hour and a half)  and more than 5 shows that are are shown twice. Unlike Cartoon Network, it doesn't have commercials (besides promos and a few DVD releases) or annoying pop-ups...

Though not many people have that channel.

Backdoor schedule

No shorts listed.

A quick update:

* The shorts airing as part of this Sunday's marathon apparently haven't been finalized yet.

* The Mon-Fri hour of Looney Tunes has been confirmed as being on the schedule at least through the end of the year.

Well better than nothing and not really suprised that it's temporary considering the current state of the network.

Don't panic. The schedules beyond the end of the year haven't been made available yet, that's all. Enjoy the return of Looney Tunes, everyone!

Schedule of Looney Tunes for the upcoming week:

source
I am still figuring out how I want to do this. It's been so long since I posted one of these TV Highlights threads. CN's website schedule just went through a redesign which does not display all the contents of each LT show. I have pieced these together the best I can. It's unlikely the cartoons will air in this exact order and some days may be incomplete. However, it will give you an idea what to look forward to. I will update this thread as new information becomes available.

Looney Tunes: Monday - Friday at 11am on Cartoon Network:

Monday, 11-16:
Baseball Bugs
Corny Concerto, A
Baby Buggy Bunny
Gruesome Twosome, A
Beanstalk Bunny
Baby Bottleneck

Tuesday, 11-17:
Bashful Buzzard
Hare-Way To The Stars
Cheese Chasers
Daffy Doodles
Big House Bunny
Book Revue

Wednesday, 11-18:
Bone, Sweet Bone
Birth of a Notion
Buckaroo Bugs
Catty Cornered
Bedevilled Rabbit
Daffy Duck in Hollywood

Thursday, 11-19:
Dog Pounded
Design for Leaving
Bugs Bonnets
Daffy Duck Slept Here
Case of the Missing Hare
Claws for Alarm

Friday, 11-20:
Ducking the Devil

---

Looney Tunes will be pre-empted the following week due to special Thanksgiving programming. However, we will see a little bit of the Looney Tunes.

Tuesday, 11-24: Bugs Bunny's Thanksgiving Diet (11am)

Thursday, 11-26: Bugs Bunny's Thanksgiving Diet (noon, 3:30pm)

In other classic cartoon news, there will also be an all-day Tom & Jerry marathon on Thanksgiving Day starting at 6:00am.

Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry both on CN?!

If I had more money and am 100% sure where I'll be in 2010...I'd get cable like...now!

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: nally on 11/14/09 at 6:35 pm

I just noticed that on my on-screen television guide earlier!! Yayy!! :D ;D

I would love to see those classic cartoons again; there's just nothing like 'em.

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 12:11 pm

It's on!  8) :D

Kicks off with "Bugs Bunny & The Three Bears" & now on "Daffy Duck & Tom Turkey" (which is fitting considering Thanksgiving is next week)

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 12:28 pm

A Road Runner cartoon was shown ("Gee Whizz-z-z-z") with classic gags such as the Coyote's 'batman' outfit (though not the Batman) and the painting of the road, which the Road Runner actually ran through inside.

The bumpers are good too, which features clips of various cartoons.

Commercial break is over... "Crowing Pains", which Foghorn Leghorn, Sylvester, Barnyard Dawg, & Henerey the Chicken Hawk.

"Odor-able Kitty", "Beep Beep", and now "Duck Dodgers"

Second hour begins with "Hare Tonic"  8)

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 2:06 pm

Third hour starts off with "Bugs Bunny Gets The Boid"

For some reason ,a  Bugs Bunny  cartoon starts off each hour on the marathon  :D

Also enjoying the bumpers (featuring clips of various cartoons) though the one with the Looney Tunes characters running out of the closet would've been a great intro since the promos of the marathon stated that they were locked inside and have never left Cartoon Network.

Though the promos for Cartoon Network original programming are cringe worthy

Well, atleast a new generation are exposed to the classics

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 3:00 pm

"Goofy Gophers"

debut of Mac n' Tosh, though with grey fur

Now to kick off the fourth hour: "Water, Water Every Hare"

First post 1948 Bugs Bunny cartoon to air in the marathon

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 3:17 pm

Now it's "Little Red Riding Rabbit" TA HAVE!!!

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 3:27 pm

"Holiday For Drumsticks", another Thanksgiving themes cartoon with Daffy Duck saving a turkey (ie eating his food and ends up plump... only to become dinner!)

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 3:37 pm

Bugs meets up  southern buzzards in "Backwoods Bunny" (Not confused with "Hillbilly Hare")

Haven't seen it in a while  8)

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 3:51 pm

"Ballot Box Bunny"... I have a feeling it's edited

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 3:59 pm

Well, it is. Though the actual ending is much, much better. (didn't watch until I got the DVD sets)

Fifth cartoon: "Racketeer Rabbit"

Another cartoon I haven't seen in a while  8)

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 4:05 pm

Another Bugs... "Bugs & Thugs"

Another gangster themed cartoons with a few gags used from the last cartoon...

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 4:54 pm

Hey grandma!!!

"Little Red Riding Rabbit" ... again!  :o

Now "Duck Amuck"  8)

An hour and 10 minutes left 'til the marathon's over

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 5:03 pm

Final hour: "Show Biz Bugs"  :D Though probably also edited

Honestly, it would've been cooler if a Un PC cartoon had aired instead...

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 5:07 pm

Now "Back Alley Oproar",  with Sylvester annoying Elmer in the funnier remake of "This Note's For You" (or a similar title) that featured Porky & an unnamed cat

Subject: Re: Looney Tunes back on US television!

Written By: woops on 11/15/09 at 5:54 pm

"What's Opera Doc?" just  aired and now "Scaredy Cay" concludes the marathon  8)

(also probably edited)

Have anybody been watching?

I know it's now on weekday mornings at 11 on CN, for one hour. I watched parts of it this morning. :)

Next week, Looney Tunes won't be shown, but will return the upcoming week after that...

"Bugs Bunny's Thanksgiving Diet" special will air, though it's mainly clips of various cartoons with new animation added (like the infamous Halloween special) Check local listings for air date.

I saw this thread and was like "Is woops back on inthe00s?"

Somewhere in the world, Looney Tunes is on TV, sometimes on a channel you'd never expect.

Yeah, I bumped it when I found out that CN took LT off their lineup. :( It was short-lived on there.

I hope that's true; then again there's always Youtube..
