Subject: Top Chef Las Vegas

Written By: snozberries on 09/05/09 at 12:28 pm

You know its funny, I hate cooking shows but I love the competition cooking shows.

I already have a Hell's Kitchen thread but I decided to start a Top Chef thread as well....

The chef's this season are stronger than I've ever seen them save a couple they've already eliminated.

Jessie needs to get her head out of her arse....she falls below the line every freaking week....well this week's elimination she was in the middle of the pack but only because her bad dish was not as bad as two other dishes.

That girl- Jennifer?  needs to go to culinary pronunciation school... she always says she made a ceviche  but she pronounces it se-v-each instead of se-v-each-ay.......if Tom Colicchio says se-v-each-ay I say se-v-each-ay.  ;D

anyway its good stuff.... anyone else watching?

Another show I try to catch if I can. The 2 brothers Bryan and Michael are interesting, but I don't have a favorite yet.

yeah I don't really have a favorite either... mostly I just want to get the annoying people out so that I can focus on the good ones!  ;D

I'm thinking it might come down to the 2 brothers, Bryan & Michael, but I also like Kevin & Jennifer C. Still not sure about Michael I I think he maybe doing good because he is always with Bryan.

Yeah Michael is kind of a douche... he thinks he's better than he is... I was hoping he'd get paired with Jessie before she got booted off... maybe he'll get paired with that Haitian dude who seems to be a bad chef too.  ;D

I don't like Jennifer but I recognize her talent. She seems to be the only female "chef" in the competition. The other women are just cooks (and it pains me to say that!)

yeah Jennifer does come across bitchy, or maybe pushy. In the beginning I was rooting for Laurine because she is originally from the Rochester,Ny area, but she really hasn't impressed me much.
I told my daughter she can be a chef..she already has one qualification..she has tattoos all over. ;D

all she needs now is a faux hawk  ;D

I said it before but I'll say it again.... Jennifer is pretentious. She over pronounces her dishes and it annoys me when she pronounces something wrong... I mean I'm no chef but I watch enough of these shows to know how they pronounce the dish...

I just watched Top Chef Masters and not one of those long time professionals pronounced ceviche as se-v-each... its se-v-each-ay  ::)

but she expedited the heck out of that banquet dinner last week.... the Hells Kitchen chefs could learn something from her.

I know sometimes when I watch Hells Kitchen I shake my head and wonder, how can all those people cooking together be slower than if you just had one chef and a couple of Sous chefs. if I had to wait over 20 minutes for my appetizer, I'm out the door.

I've been seriously neglecting this thread...
I'm so glad Martin went home the previous week... I know everyone wanted Robin out- and she needs to go soon but Martin was in bottom three on French cuisine night  :o  anyway- it seemed a lot of bad food was made at that "cook out"

Ha Ha Robin got elimination- these chefs are seriously bitter people!

but I am soooooooo glad Ron is finally gone. I don't know how he got in there in the first place. I don't think one thing he's made has looked all that appetizing  8-P

now if only Mike would go... his cooking skills do not match up to his ego.

the V brothers, Kevin (and reluctanly) Jenn are the best cooks of this season.  I hate Jenn tho.

I really didn't like Eli's remark that Robin only won because she mentioned she had cancer.
I figured that Ron & Ash would be going home soon
I know Mike thinks he great ::) only seen flashes of that.Jenn is the female version of Mike, but with talent.

Yeah I thought Eli's comment was a cheap shot.

I think Mike has only cooked one or two dishes that were passable...he gets carried by bryan (or is it michael) a lot.

Jenn is  a snob.  Yeah I thought Ash might go for his uncooked pork. I still think he's better than Loriene (Sp?) Robin and Ashley but he won't last much longer.

yeah....Robin got lucky this week....but mike I is still not as good as he thinks he is.

I'm kinda surprised Ash didn't go for hiding behind Mike V.  if he doesn't step it up next week he may go before Robin.

I dislike humble Jen even more than cocky Jen....maybe if I'd met humble Jen first  ::)

WOW  I did not see that coming... I thought Laurine was gonna go for making cat food  ;D  how embarrassed is she right now sitting at home watching this with her family.

and dude Robin is annoying but Eli is more so....  he still lives with mommy and daddy? aw I bet she does his laundry too  ::)

And I'm sorry didn't Robin say she's 43? I am completely offended by Mike I's comment "Grandma's gots to go!"  bastard I hope you go before she does.

I don't like Robin but I dislike ageism more....especially when the person isn't old...

anyway Laurine, Eli and Mike I can go... then Robin.  Just so she can get the last laugh... but whatever...

Michael, Bryan, Jennifer, and Kevin in the top four.... I think Kevin has a good shot of winning...

Oh and I'm terribly excited about restaurant wars... but its a big risk usually the weak survive restaurant wars-

I didn't watch the previews so don't tell me if I'm right but I'd like to see brother against brother----

or Mike I vs Eli...

actually Mike I vs Eli isn't a bad idea cuz then I have a good chance of losing one of them....  ;D

Yeah me too.... I wonder if they would've done better if Jennifer had gotten out of the kitchen instead... if you think about it Laurine could've cooked the lamb herself so Kevin was okay-
Jenn would've been more personable (probably) Kevin did fine on his own dish but not on Laurine's and Mike just did okay....

basically Jenn was the worst chef last night- Mike was second worst..... bryan didn't do all that well either- they seemed to not like anything he made...
There was a sick part of me hoping Robin would win just to do a sort of "in your face" to Michael. I know Robin's not that good but still- it would've been nice to see.
Although Michael would've taken credit for her win thinking his advise was the reason she won  ::)

I knew the other team was going to lose the minute they decided not to do a dessert. Try and play it safe and it's bad news...

First of all I can look at Natalie Portman and see she's a vegetarian  ;D

secondly- how bad does it suck that if you're friends with Nat you have to eat vegetarian too...  ::)

I loved the guy who said Jen's def would be perfect with a steak  ;D

Jen is letting the competition get to her.. I didn't like her in the beginning but right now I like her better than Mike I. and Eli...

and what a prick Michael V. is turning out to be... he's a total sore loser and I hope Kevin wins the whole damn thing!!!!

exactly... I was rooting for the brothers in the final three but now I'd sort of like to see Jen Kevin and Bryan in the top three cuz that would chap Michael's hide.... no way Robin or Eli make it to top three.  but I want Eli gone next week just so Robin gets a little more vindication  ;D

Here's hoping she does okay just so Eli can go home... Bryan has to be worried because he's just not as good as michael...Michaels an ass but still he seems to be better than his brother...

Goodbye Eli, I figured it was going to be either him or Jen that left. I like how the judges complained that Kevin played it safe, but he still won..I'll take the $30,000. Am I the only person who didn't know what Bocuse d'Or is? I still really don't get it,other than they have a big competition in France.

This was the first I'd heard of it....  Kevin got lucky- his was the only dish that tasted good...had bryan fully cooked his lamb he would have won.

Kevin is probably going to get blown out of that competition because its just not his style... I don't know that even with all the books and DVDs he got if he can pull it off.  but whatever.

I kind of think Kevin owes Bryan something for explaining proper sue-veed (yeah I have no idea how to spell it and don't wanna look it up)
method to him... had Bryan not given him those temps and times Kevin would have been in trouble.

Fabio hosted a "dinner party" people from all the previous seasons came back and talked and cooked...actually it was kind of boring but you know... its top chef so I'm going to watch anyway!

Harold, Tiffani, Carla, Casey, Steffan, Marcel,Illian, Lisa, Blais, and some others I can't recall were there. each season took a course and prepared something for the dinner.

no competition just talk...which is why Marcel is a tool. He still hasn't learned how to have a civil conversation with anyone. I'm sorry he got bullied in his season and stuff- there's no excuse for it but.... he totally brought it down on himself for being an ass then. I was kinda hoping someone would pin him down this time too  ::)
