Subject: 2000s movies that you can't stand
Written By: Kyle23 on 06/17/09 at 7:17 pm
Too many Superhero films...it was fine with Spiderman and Iron Man or something like this, but a 3rd Spiderman and another Batman sequel gets on my nerves.
300 - enough said
Madagascar and March of the Pengiuns...ish
Remakes of good movies...the 1930s King Kong was the best

Lady in the Water directed by M. Night Shyamalan was not worth the time of watching.

His next film 'The Happening' wasn't any better.

This guy lost any respect from me for ragging on "300". I can think of at least 100 other movies that were way worse than "300", starting with anything that stars Hannah Montana.

i ajtually have 300 on bluray. i think it's pretty enjoyable but it's got a surprisingly republican sensibility for a frank miller story (check this out

plus it pretty much has no plot whatever. it's sorta just gory sword-and-sandalporn. i don't mind that myself but i could see where it would irk some people. plus unlike hannah montana it's actually thought of as some kinda masterpiece, which it definitely isn't. it's a trashy action movie with lots of awesome beheadings that takes itself way too seriously. i like it myself but can see where some folks would hate it.

I've never understood how people read so much into movies and books. It used to piss me off in high school when we were supposed to find these "hidden themes" in Shakespeare and Steinbeck, when you can see it's just a story/play written for the hell of it.
Compared to Hannah Montana, "300" IS a masterpiece. Hell, "Red Sonja" is a masterpiece compared to Hannah Montana.
Speaking of "Red Sonja", I'll give him half the respect back for his observance of remakes. They ARE remaking that heinous piece of crap (Red Sonja), and it stars Rose McGowan. That is the last thing this world needs. :P

I suspect I'll be in the minority in praising this film. It will be described as empty, uneventful, meandering. But for some, it will weave a spell. It is a parable, yes, but it is also simply the story of these people and how their lives and existence have suddenly become problematic. We depend on such a superstructure to maintain us that one or two alterations could leave us stranded and wandering through a field, if we are that lucky.
i have to admit that i enjoyed the happening as a kinda magnificent failure. terrible movie in a lot of ways but it does make you think.

i kinda liked the bug attack for the sheer ick factor but other than that the sfx looked kinda cartoonish to me.

For me, something did. I bought the Blu-Ray of it and sold it as soon as I watched it ;D
Of course I didn't get back what it cost me to buy it, so it's a lesson learned for me LOL

Yeah, I had never even heard of it. I had to look it up to see what it was about. I can't BELIEVE they cast Rose freaking McGowan in the lead. WTF?
