The ooze... as in "knee deep in the ooze" 

Think of all the messes that came up in the past then years, 9/11, the Iraq & Afghanistan war, real estate collapse, the popularity of reality TV, etc.

Ooze tends to mean something messy, and I can't think of a messier decade.

Granted it doesn't have that "-ties" style suffix the other decades seem to have, but I don't think it needs to.

The oose are 'o' which is a letter of the alphabet.

What is required here is 00's, that is '0' as in a numerical digt, so 00's should read as zeroes or noughts.

It just oozes creativity!  ;D

Ooze sounds more like something that came out of a B-movie flick. Or maybe a nickname towards Nickelodeon slime during the early 90s. Although, I think the noughties (despite sounding more like naughty) sound better.

They're called the Uh-Ohs. Especially when reading it as 00s (pronounced oh-oh for the zeroes).

I call them the two-thousands as well, but I've heard someone call them the twenty-hundreds and refer to years such as 2007 as twenty oh seven. I guess that makes sense, but I prefer saying two thousand for any year in the last decade, I say twenty for anything after 2009 though. I've also heard them referred to as the zeros, ohs, and naughties.
