Subject: Which part of the 2000s do you like?

Which part of the 2000s do you like the best? In terms of pop culture and personal life.
I liked the best the early 2000s (2000-2004). 2005-2006 were so-so and my life sucks since 2007.
2007-2009 are the worst years in my life. I hope that it will gets better in the 2010s. ;)

The early 2000s = better cars, fashion, movies and music.

In Whistledog's defense it it the usual custom to have an account before posting topics. This way we have a chance to interrogate you and smite you if need be.

Facebook/MySpace/YouTube type stuff...the internet maturing
iPods...they are the greatest invention of the decade. Don't need to carry a clunky CD player around
Kids more interested in sports...more school spirit and less on streets.
Teens working and not causing problem
Decreased crime and teen pregancy.
The ability to sell stuff online.

Yeah, there's not as much teenage angst with this generation like there was in the 90's (when my generation was in their teens). Now its more about being emo. The technology of this decade is good too, especially with video games.
Anyhow, as far as my favorite time period of the 00's, I would say mid decade (particularly 2004 and 2005). 2006 was when everything started to go downhill into the late 2000's, like with the economy and loss of hope, while 2001-2003 had 9/11 and the beginning of the Iraq War.

2000 and 2005 were probably the overall best years of the decade. 2000 still had a 90's attitude to it with a little bit more of technology. I like it because it was a huge year for dance music.
In 2004 people were still freaking out about 9/11 from what I remember. In 2005 it became a part of history and people were beginning to finally move on with their lives. Of course, the tragedy will never be forgotten and will be passed down to future generations. But it was when the 2000's became laid back... as much as they could get.
Even early and mid 2001 can go on a good list.
I think I like 2000 - early 2003 the most... Those were the last days I could have any traces of innocence and partying. The world was definitely not a happy place, but music overall was still good those years. 2003 is when music completely started to go downhill with that "glam rap" and the decline in dance music... But as for dance music, it ended pretty good. Benny Benassi was the last I've heard when dance music was still popular. Which was early 2003. After that, it died and I couldn't get used to the emo, emo, glam rap, and crunk music.
I think dance music was better in the early 2000's than the 90's personally. Except for 1999 which brought on some good dance hits.

My favorite part of the 2000s was 2005-mid 2007, along with 2000-mid 2001. Of course I was never into much current music (in the 90s growing up I mostly liked the type of music that was on The Weather Channel; which explains why I don't like pop music past the '80s (I could remember being afraid of the song Hungry Eyes by Eric Carmen when I was 3-4 years old, though I like that '80s-type stuff now). 2000-mid 2001 was the only time that reality TV was fun to watch (Survivor was special) and Primetime big money game shows were still big such as Millionaire and Greed. If you watch commercials from that era on Youtube, you may be shocked how simplistic some of the commercials were (most were still shot in Standard Definition, many TV shows still had proper theme songs). Also, oldies stations didn't play any '80s music and played a bit more pre-Beatles music.
2005-mid 2007 was good in a different way. The economy was generally good (with inflated prices in the high-end sector, however), and the Internet had reached its full potential. I felt innocent about Wikipedia at the time, plus nary a day would go without an exciting Youtube clip (still enjoyable today, though I use Google Video more to get some of the banned Warner Brothers videos). Unfortunately, as this era ended, I felt like the monoculture had passed, and the Western World was no longer the sole world leader with Asia and parts of Latin America causing the paradigm shift. It's simple to revisit the 1996+ Internet though by using archive.org!
Because of the "archive culture", most stuff that is unique to the 2000s is alreardy archived online. The '80s are still trying to comeback with commercials used, but that's not been the case (look at the fashions, while I've been wearing some Izod and a couple shirts that state "80s style" on it, most fashion today is NOTHING like it was in the '80s. Unlike previous decades where the culture basically went away, I feel lots of 2000s stuff will be here to stay... what will replace cellphones, the Internet since around 2006, digital music, a fully globalized culture, tweeness in popular music, consistant breaking news?

I don't like any part of the 2000's pop culture wise or personal life-wise. :-\\
Sorry, but there's nothing to remember about this decade. The music is horrible, movies are unoriginal and repetitive, and ever since Friends finished, television has gone down (I don't even like that show). If there are better decades like the 2020's or 2070's, then nobody's going to care about the 2000's at all!
But then again people will remember 9/11, Iraq, and Barrack Obama as president.
But if someone pointed a gun at my head and forced me to pick the least worse years of the 2000's then I would pick 2000 and 2009.
