Subject: Holy crap...did you see Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman last night?
Written By: AL-B Mk. III on 02/12/09 at 3:50 am
So I was on the phone with my brother when he mentioned that Joaquin Phoenix was coming up on the Late Show and that I shouldn't miss it. We stayed on the line and watched it, and all I can say is that Joaquin looked like pure ass. His hair looked like he hadn't showered in a couple of days, he was sporting a thick beard and a creepy pair of sunglasses, and he mumbled so incoherently that he seemed like he was on something. He seemed so strung out that I almost expected him to snap and suckerpunch Letterman or something crazy like that.
At the end of the interview, Letterman quipped, "Well, we're sorry Joaquin Phoenix couldn't be here tonight," which actually got Joaquin to crack a smile.
Weird, wild stuff. :o :o :o

I think his hair and beard have been like that ever since he decided to pursue a hip-hop career. Maybe the incoherent mumbling was actually rapping.

It's a damn shame. He used to be so handsome, and I thought he was a great actor.

Maybe he's competing with Mickey Rourke for the rancid wino look!
When I saw Mickey Rourke, I thought the foul-mouthed bum who stands outside the Subway got a gig on Conan!

Casey Affleck is making a documentary about Joaquin Phoenix's transition from acting into a music career.
See: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1356864/
I think it's all an act for this documentary. It's an elaborate social experiment. I bet the documentary will come out and we'll find out the purpose of the documentary was to document the staged "descent" from a good-looking, greatly talented actor to a long-haired, bearded hip-hop wannabe seemingly out-of-his-mind on drugs or something to show people's reaction to it all and how Hollywood treated Joaquin when he said he wanted to rap and started showing up to red carpets and press junkets with long hair and a big, dirty beard.
I'm thinking it's a documentary about Hollywood image or something like that, inspired by the media-made descensions of people like Britney Spears and Joaquin Phoenix is playing a very elaborate and experimental role as a Britney Spears type to prove a point.
If it does indeed turn out to be all an act for this documentary, Joaquin Phoenix is the greatest actor ever.

I will love him forever if that is the case.

Perhaps.
But then again, remember what happened to his brother. :(

Everything Julia Roberts does is calculated, from the yonking laugh to the marriages to the naming of her children.

I saw on youtube where MSNBC showed a clip from the Joaquin Phoenix debacle on Letterman. Mika Brzinski (sic) didn't think it was a big deal, but her 3 male co-anchors all cracked up uncontrollably.
P.S. I think Joaquin should go back to being Leaf Phoenix, since he shriveled like one last week.
