Subject: Alexandra Burke wins X Factor singing Cohen's Hallelujah

Written By: Philip Eno on 12/16/08 at 4:00 am

Has Alexandra Burke realised what she is singing as a Christmas record?

With lyrics like:

"You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you"

"She tied you to her kitchen chair
And she broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the hallelujah"

"And remember when I moved in you?
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah"

Please discuss.

Does anybody care?

Jeff Buckley has done the definative version of that song as far as I'm concerned and it was tipped for number one so maybe that is why Simon Cowell has done this. Cynical moi?

The same song predicted to be at the top two positions.
