Man, is it ever buggy. Some pictures won't load, and some webpages look all distorted. I should have kept IE7 ::)
I'm using Opera browser now lol

I still have IE6, which would explain how come there was spyware in it when I got it from my sis, I didn't even have internet at that point.
I need to ask if there is another broswer on this computer that they remember(maybe I can get around a few problems and save some stuff more easily before I have to do the reload).

I use Firefox 3, 99 % of the time. Seems to generally have the best reviews. I have Opera as 'backup'.
Can't recall the last time I used IE ... so many negatives on the net, over the years ... put me off.

The fact that he is having problems with the newest version and I have problems with the older version can definetly add to that. :D

I have to confess, I don't think the latest Firefox, seems as fast as the previous one. :( Maybe the cost of 'beefed up security' ? Perhaps it'll become faster with updates, down the track ? :-\\ :(

Your mission, Jason, should you choose to accept it .... is to use IE to TRY to explore the internet. This software, complete with bugs, will self-destruct in ..........................
(Oh why bother .... it's farked anyway ! ). ::)

I use Firefox 3 most of the time as well. The only time I use IE is to send email. I can read my email in Firefox, but I can't send one. The new email program Comcast has doesn't mix with Firefox at all. It's rather annoying.

I REALLY, REALLY HATE IE but unfortunately, there are some things that I HAVE to use it with. Otherwise I use Firefox ALL THE TIME.
I'm sure most of you are aware that recently I reloaded my OS on my computer. Then I downloaded the latest version of Firefox, AVG, & Spybot. I would run the AVG scan as well as the Spybot scan EVERYDAY and it seemed like I kept getting spyware as well as warnings on the AVG. I kept deleted cookies, immunized, etc. etc. I was trying to figure out where this spyware was coming from. Then it hit me-IE! Yup, that's right. A browser that I hardly use but the spyware was still coming in. I didn't even think about that because I wasn't using it. So, I opened up the IE and deleted the cookies there and no more spyware. Now, the AVG & the Spybot scans have been clean.
I HATE IE, I HATE IE, I HATE IE!!!!

I had the same problem using it. Remember it is only a BETA. Opera is good though.

Thanks for the heads up.
I have IE7 on laptop b/c that's what Dad got (his lappy). I have IE6 at work, still prefer it.
To summarize feelings:
Not fond of IE7, prefer 6; hating SPSS 17, want 15 back; frustrated by Office 07, prefer 03. Why is it that recently companies are upgrading to products that aren't as user friendly or reliable as previous versions?????????
Cat, did you have to pay for Spybot or is it a free program? I need something because I keep getting a message when I boot up my computer about some Data program (didn't even know I had) says it found something and had to close IE before I even open it.....

Spybot is DEFINITELY free ... and very good. I used it for years. However .... now that I have the latest 'AVG' anti-virus .... also free ... well, I haven't used it in many months ..... since it all seems to be taken care of by AVG .... which has an active resident shield ... to keep you continually protected .... as well as anti-virus, anti-spyware ... built in !

Btw ... 'Mushroom' ... (our sometimes resident computer guru) ... endorsed AVG in his 'Ask me anything about computers' thread.

I use Firefox 3 usually, it's not perfect and crashes a bit on me. IE 7 is ok and I'll use it sometimes, but I think IE feels more "clunky" plus Firefox is more customizable.

Yes, both AVG & Spybot are free. Even though AVG MAY catch everything, I prefer to have both-just in case.

I also find that they often take away features that you used all the time to introduce new ones that aren't applicable to you. When I was at work we had problems (i.e. too many unwanted features and not some of our most used there at all) with 'new, improved' version of datalogger software and heart rate monitor stuff. Drove us all crazy :D

I still use IE7 and I don't really seem to have any problems with it.
The Son uses Safari.
He's never had a problem with it...

It seems that everytime I update IE or Windows in general, it seems to screw it up more rather than make improvements. Right now with IE 8, it crashes everytime I try to access my Favorites tab. Since the latest Windows update, every time I open a browser some blue box appears and the whole thing freezes, so I have to open a new window with IE. After reading some other posts, I should start using Safari.
