Subject: David Archuleta * debut album *
Written By: robby76 on 11/24/08 at 10:07 pm
I can assume everyone's heard his hit single "Crush" by now. Well the whole album is quite fantastic! Sure there are a few duds in there but out of the 12 tracks there are 6 stand-out ones for me, which says a lot for an 00s artist. I think coming in 2nd on Idol was a blessing in disguise.

Here are a few of my fave tracks. Not a vocoder or guest rapper in sight! ;)

Before his album was even released, Archuleta already had achieved 5 hits in the USA, which were based on download sales from songs he performed on American Idol. To date, he's had 7 US chart hits, only 1 of which (Crush) is an actual single
Arculeta's album was released 1 week before David Cook's album, so I think he may end up being the bigger star. He does have a wonderful voice. I liked his version of Dan Fogelberg's "Longer" :)

Hate is not a strong enough emotion to express my feelings for Archuletta

Haha I was prepared for some negative press. ;)
I had no idea Cook's album was out a week after. I thought it had been released months ago.

I couldnt stand Archie's huge teenybopper following during the last season of Idol. And I have not heard the "Crush" song you speak of.
HOWEVER, I went with an open mind and listened to the three songs posted above. Honestly, they all seemed middle-of-the-road to me. "Running" seemed the best of the three, but wasnt great IMO.
Maybe its just me, but his voice seems flat and almost monotone. I dont see anything special there even though there were some flashes of brilliance on the Idol show. Sorry.

that was always my problem with him. His sings the notes not the emotion and even when he sings the notes I don't really think he hits them all that well.
