Subject: Heart none too pleased about GOP use of their song Barracuda
Written By: ChuckyG on 09/05/08 at 12:42 pm
The song was chosen as a would-be cute tie-in to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's past—"Barracuda" was her high school nickname.
Only problem, campaign officials failed to ask either the group, Universal Music Publishing or Sony BMG whether the song was fair game to use. It wasn't.
not the first time this year either...
John Mellencamp, Jackson Browne and Boston have all previously made noise about the GOP's unauthorized use of their songs during this year's campaign.

So how many lawsuits does that make against Republicans on behave of musicians?
Perhaps they could use Wagner or Gregorian chants for their rallies. That should lesson the likelihood of legal action.
Rule of them, most Rock musicians are very socially tolerant people.

Seems pretty silly if you ask me!
First of all, odds are the song was put on by some behind-the-scenes guy who has no real connection to McCain or Palin, so the girls of Heart are complaining to the wrong people.
Second of all, anyone who gets one of their songs played at an event which garners such national attention can only see one effect: Increased Record Sales!
So seriously, what all does Heart have to gripe about?
Your Pal,
Doc

Actually Sarah Palin had to have signed off on the use of it so there is the connection.
Second of all I would think the artist would have the right to complain if their song was being misused or misrepresented.
Three, I don't forsee sales going up because of Palin.
