Subject: Most historical event of the 00s
Written By: 80sfan on 08/28/08 at 9:36 pm
-The begginning of the millenium, y2k problem
-September 11
-Iraq war
-Tsunami
-Katrina 2005
-Virginia Tech
-other, please list
* I pick other, Michael Phelps winning 8 gold medals! Lol Just kidding, the most historical thing about this decade is September 11 in my opinion. I think that we remember things that are either very bad or very good very easily. Sorry, but there's not much positive about this decade. If you can list something positive, please do! One thing I love about this decade is that the life style is easier though.

Judging by the reaction of the folk of Berlin not so long ago, you'd think he already had been!

Obviously September 11th 2001 completely set the tone for this era.

September 11 didn't just effect America, but every other western nation too.

Being a New Yorker, my answer is 9/11, although I'm sure victims of all of the natural disasters listed would vote differently.

For Europe, it was England, Spain, and Italy that got affected from Terrorism.
What about the Michael Richards Rant? That was extremely controversial. And the 'Wardrobe Malfunction' in Super Bowl 38, that was big news.
Other than that, the 00's sucked-ass. At least for the 60's there was good music, movies, and television. Now it's all crap.

I'd consider these noteworthy but not necessarily historical.

Which Michael Richard's rant was that..?
He made a racist remark when he was heckled by a black man during a performance at a club in 2006
Speaking of Michael Richards, here's an interesting bit of trivia: In 1982, Richards appeared as a player on an episode of NBC's sketch comedy series "Fridays" in which he appeared with Andy Kaufman. Midway through the sketch, Kaufman broke character and refused to follow the script, so Richards walked off set, came back and threw the cue cards on Kaufman's lap, which resulted in an on-air argument between Kaufman and the crew

wasn't Fridays on ABC? I don't remember that particular moment but I do remember a character Richards used to play... a "little" playing war in a sandbox...from what I remember it was pretty funny. I also remember the Ghanja sketch

Ok, the Seinfeld guy. Confused him with Guv Richardson. I'd love to see the ep. in question. Just the thought of Andy Kaufman and Michael Richard's having words. Kinda like Daffy Duck getting in Donald Duck's face...
Yeah, Friday's was funny...
Gimme ganja! Yah, yah, yaaah, yah..!

Everything Kaufman did was staged, but I would think watching it as it happened back in '82, you'd never know. Especially, that incident where Jerry Lawler slapped him in the face on 'Late Night with David Letterman'

yeah the thing with Kaufman was that he planned all this stuff but not everyone was always in on the joke so while Richards and that Director guy he "fought" with were probably in on it... I don't think anyone else was.
