I hate that they always have to change things to supposedly make them "better" ::)

I don't know I kind of agree that the old format is dated... but to change it outright is crazy....as you guys are proving people are resistant to change. What they should have done was tested their new format in the prime time slot but kept the Daytime show the same. Then...considering its free mantle anyway, let the audience decide what they like of the new format and what they like of the old and merge the two....

some things they shouldn't change are some old standby's like Plinko... Plinko is classic. 

I just went to TVtickets.com and it shows they still have tapings now through 8/5 with tickets available. I wonder if the remaining shows will be old or new format ... I should get tickets just to see. I could watch Price of Right live....one time anyway.

Messing with TPIR?  That is just plain dumb.  TPIR is the ultimate game show and ultimate audience participation show.  What's next?  They gonna bring Bob Eubanks out of retirement to emcee?

Sobering stuff. I have been watching this show for almost 20 years, and to see it get changed like that is just not right. In a way, TPIR was like one of the last remaining links to the early '70s era of television. Even with a different host, the general "feel" of the show has remained the same for 36 years.

The article says there doing this to try to appeal to us twentysomethings, but there are alot of people my age that have been watching this show since we were kids that are not going to be happy about this. :(

Right! You gotta maintain the integrity of the program...if the format gets altered, it's just gonna get messed up.

In a way all of us grew up with TPIR in its current format since its been on the air so long, and that what makes this so sad. Pretty much everyone between the ages of 40 and 10 (or even younger than that) watched the exact same TPIR as a kid. In this day and age, there are very few things that cross generations like that.

I've been watching TPIR since the early 80s.  If this is true, then I don't think I will watch anymore.  The original TPIR as seen weekdays at 11am is a staple of morning viewing, and it should not be messed with

Same here.  It is a favored childhood memory of mine.  Grandma sitting in the recliner, coffee on the table, dog in her lap, yelling at the top of her lungs at the television when people made what she considered a stupid move or play. ;D

I'm amazed that the link is dead that quick, this thread wasn't started that long ago.

Go to www.golden-road.net and look at the latest thread titled "This Weekend". They are starting to make some sense out of all this there.

Holly was my favorite of all the Barker's Beauties. I remember wanting to look like her.

Actually...in 2001, they had three regular models (after rotating a series of them from week to week): Nikki Ziering (who joined in September 1999 and departed in late 2002), Claudia Jordan (2001-03), and Heather Kozar (2001-mid 2002). Since then, they've had a number of different models who've come and gone; no constant ones.

Drew Carey did a good job hosting this show and it should've been left alone!
