Subject: What will you remember from the 2000s

Written By: Brad Pitt lookalike on 05/19/08 at 3:14 pm

It's a year and a half to the end of the decade. What will you remember from the 2000s? I meran both in your personal life and pop culture.
I will probably remember 2000 and 2001 as the last years in which teen pop was still big. I will remember 2002 with my grandmother's death. 2003 was a good year, especially during the spring and summer. 2004-2007 was a dull period for me and I won't remember it for anything. 2008 seems like a transition year for me and I hope my health will become more stable in the summer. Harry Potter is arguably the signature movie for the decade, as it started in 2001 and it will end in 2011, according to Wikipedia. I will also try to forget rap, crank and snap music, which were the default music genres for many years till now. Let's hope the next decade is better and similar to the 90s.  :)

Let's see...

The Bad: Bush, Reality TV, American Idol, Rap, 9/11, Emo, Tabloids, skanks getting big, skanks going to rehab, skanks subsequently losing popularity and facing backlash, NASCAR, Dane Cook, Carlos Mencia, the recession, jr. high, losing friends, high school until the end, demise of Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, AND Disney, MTV, Viacom, Clear Channel, corporate media, corporate domination, LOBBYISTS

The good: the iPod, the internet, HD graphics, Ridiculously realistic games, elementary school (2000 - 2002 anyway), underground music getting easily exposed, System of a Down, Tool, Foo Fighters, retro music becoming far more acceptable and even cool, Republican Party and evangelicals losing ground, the obvious friends and family, senior year in HS, Lewis Black, the RIAA losing profits, the erupting local scene here in Rochester

I think that I will remember hoping that the 2010's turn out better than the plain-jane 2000's.

What will I remember: 9/11, 50 Cent,Glam Rap, and the downturn of the economy in 2008 with Housing foreclosures, Big SUV's with "For Sale Signs" on them because people can't afford gas for their gas hogs, rising gas prices, downturn in new automobile sales in the US.

Well, it looks like right now most of the stuff I will remember will be bad (9/11, Bush, bad rap music, war in Iraq, what looks to be a recession in the late '00s, etc.) but my personal life hasn't been all that bad, so i'm sure that 10 or 15 years from now I will remember more of the good stuff from a personal level than the bad.

The downfall of three 6 mafia. They've been ever so slowly dying for at least 6-7 years. If you want to hear the good stuff get ch. 2 world domination. Came out in 98. I'll also remember Bush. On the good side, 3D GTA was one hell of a ride.

Yes, there are so many events from the 2000's that I will remember.. September 11, the horrible Bush administration, the tsunami, global warming, gas prices... more than I can name.  But the 1 thing I will remember, above all else, is the breakup of three 6 Mafia...   ::)

9/11, Iraq, War on Terror, dominance (and general decline in quality) of hip-hop/r&b music, cheesy Disney crap, reality TV, high gas prices. The early 21st century is an era of mixed emotions after the prosperity during the later half of the 1990s, it will probably be remembered as somewhat trying times.
