Subject: best workout & gym trax for my ipod?

Written By: faith1981 on 03/30/08 at 1:35 pm

... I need new music:  mostly for running but also for a full gym workout... I need some suggestions as I'm tired of listening to the same old stuff. I tend to buy stuff on itunes, not really wanting to mess my computer with the pirate programs.......

The best work out music? Well, that's up to you. It all comes down to each person's individual taste. Try and think of something that makes you feel energetic and driven.

The theme song from the first Rocky movie is generally considered a great work out song. Also, I used to like having that "Flashdance... What a Feeling" song by Irene Cara playing in my head whenever I went running.

The B-52s - Pump - from Funplex, 2008.

If not that track, something else from the album is probably gonna be the upbeat track of the year.  The B-52s have kept to their 80s "fun" roots, but they no longer sound dated.  If you can imagine Hot Pants Explosion with a little more guitar edge, you've got the idea of Funplex.

Crystal Method - anything they've ever done, ever, but I'll go for 2006's Drive: Nike Original Run as the best 44 minutes you'll ever hear.  In fact, Crystal Method's Drive: Nike Original Run is one of those albums that I keep on the MP3 player for long walks or long road trips. Given that it takes about 10 minutes to work up a sweat while walking, or about 10 minutes to get from a city center to a highway, it works as well behind the wheel as it does on foot.  (I swear it's not an April Fool's Joke, I really wish FOX had given the ill-fated series Drive a full season.  The rest of the album is just really good driving music, in that it's very difficult, if not impossible, to fall asleep to it.)

As for random tracks - gotta be Motiv8 Rockin' For Myself, Herbie, Right Type of Mood, and Sotto Voce, Higher and Higher, the "Subwoofer Jesus DJ 12-inch Remix" would stand on its own, but gets bonus points for sampling porn star Dorothy LeMay in the 80s pr0n flick Taboo.  (Can anyone source the slowed-down/frequency-shifted-to-bass "Damage" sample that immediately follows the Lemay sample?)

I have to work out to an easy listening radio station - no choice - but I kinda like the peaceful workouts more. It's certainly more therapeutic.

yeah I agree, it's just a lot easier to download from itunes then mess around with other stuff.....

If you're looking for workout/gym music on itunes, I highly recommend you start here:

http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZSearch.woa/wa/advancedSearchResults?albumTerm=Euro+Club+Hits+Vol+

....... if that link doesn't work, u could try this one http://tinyurl.com/2z96uw ......

or try searching itunes for "euro club hits" -- it's the one with the logo and the different colors in back .... cheers

I like something upbeat and a bit hard.  One of my favorites is Animal ~ Pearl Jam.  I also find some of the WWE entrance music is excellent.  I really like King of Kings by Motorhead, HHH entrance theme.  Sometimes I also like familiar songs that I can lose myself singing the words and not pay attention to how much I hate running.  Just some suggestions.
