Subject: Shawn Colvin Christmas song foul up??

As the 'jingle tunes' play from now until Christmas, I couldn't help but have my ears snagged on the song by Shawn Colvin: 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas'
The verse SHE sings/twists is: 'Faithful friends who are near to us, gather dear to us, once more...'
All other artists and lyrics I dug up write it: 'Faithful friends who are DEAR to us, gather NEAR to us...'
Did she intentionally change it or flub it?
They both sound ok,she is the only one I can recall mixing it over.
