An Entire Social Networking Site Dedicated to Kylie Minogue

If you thought it was rough keeping track of your various online social networking identities today, just wait until every artists you like starts launching their own social networking site.  That's what happened today to fans of the singer Kylie Minogue, who today announced the launch of kyliekonnect, an online social network where her fans an create their own profiles where they can post their own photos, blog entries, and friend lists -- just like any other social network, except that everything's at least tangentially about Kylie Minogue.

Kylie will, of course, has her own profile page featuring "exclusive music, news, tour information and more, with fans able to download exclusive behind the scenes footage and have a chance to win 'money can't buy' prizes," according to Dan Duncombe, Head of Digital at Parlophone.  While promoting her latest single, "2 Hearts," Minogue will use a feature on the service that lets users upload content directly from their mobile phones to offer her fans exclusive pictures taken on the road.

Fans of other artists might see a similar offering soon, as marketing company New Visions unveils more artist-specific social networks in the future.  Said Julia McNally, director New Visions Mobile, "We've developed 'OurTribe' which is a user generated content application integrated into our existing WAP platform. Whilst other social networking sites allow fans to create their own profiles online, side loading images and video from their phones to the PC, OurTribe allows users to create and manage their pages directly from their mobile handset.  It’s extremely exciting for us to launch this with such a big name artist as Kylie."
