Subject: Remakes: What should be remade and what shouldn't
Written By: star500 on 09/14/07 at 11:25 pm
There are certain movies that I believe should be remade and certain movies that shouldn't. Here are some the movies I believe should be remade:
Gidget (using Hayden Panettiere as Gidget)
Where The Boys Are
The Giant Claw
Tammy and the Bachelor
Send Me No Flowers
Lover Come Back
Valley of the Dolls
and quite a few more!
Some movies I don't think should be remade:
Love Story
The Graduate
Adventures in Babysitting
Pet Semetary
Cujo
Christine
And a few more!
What do you think? Does anyone agree with my choices? I don't believe in remaking movies that don't really need remakes but some movies are so dated and old that they honestly might benefit from being remade. I know there are people that are going to crucify me for saying movies need to be remade and those are the people who are dead set against remakes. It's true that sometimes a remake will make a movie worse, especially if they don't follow the story but if they do and they make it modern (or set in the past, whatever makes more sense!) sometimes remakes can be a good thing.

i heard that Valley Of The Dolls is being re-made, with BĂ©yonce....i think there should be a re-make that will be as good as the book.
one movie i can defintely see being re-made is Don't Tell Mom the Babysitters Dead, but i know a re-make wouldn't do it justice. it would be crap, knowing movies now and days. probably starring some Disney Channel actress ::).

"Adventures of Babysitting" was to be remade with Raven Symone, but thankfully got scrapped :D
Should be remade
"Blue Lagoon" with Scarlett Johansson :-*
As for movies that shouldn't be remade... too long to mention

I'm waiting for "The A-Team: The Movie'. It was supposed to be a go, but I dunno what became of it.

I dunno. With the passing of George Peppard I don't think the A-Team would have the same cachet. Good Lord I hope they do not remake it with somebody like Steve Martin or Adam Sandler.
Another movie that need not be remade is the George Peppard-Audrey Hepburn classic "Breakfast at Tiffany's". Today's Hollywood would mess up the vibe with special effects.
I could see a remake of "Car Wash", and maybe "Mother, Jugs, and Speed" which were two cool 1970's urban comedies. Let's see them refreshed for the 2000's scene. 8)
On the seedier side of the movie business, how about a remake of the classic "Johnny Wadd"? ???

I'll admit to not being much of a movie buff. Infact, the only one on this list I've ever seen is "Where The Boys Are". I think this would be an excellent movie to re-make. It's themes are still timely (summer flings, teenage pregnancy, etc..)

Masters of the Universe is ready for a remak, and is scheduled for 2009 release, but
i can't think of who will play he man.
The Rock? Steve austin? Both would need a nice blonde wig. Dolph Lungren was such
a great he man. It was a shame the original couldn't have had more of Eternia, Battlecat, or
Orco, but those were pre cgi days. Sets cost money.
Dolph has shrunk a bit. I last
saw him the Russian specialist.
The Rock in a blonde, He-Man style wig... nope can't picture it... photoshop anyone?

Acording to a few sites, Brad Pitt is named to play the next he man. This makes no sense to me. Prince adam is supposed to be a young prince. 20? 25?
Brad can't pull this off at age 46
His imdb says he is signed to play an aids patient for a movie that's supposed to film in 2009. How do you go from emaciated aids patient to buff super god at 46 yrs?

My guess is Gerard Butler from 300.
Brad Pitt as a he-man? How is he gonna pull that off? He already gave Angelina his 'nads as a set of ear rings. ;D

This is an old and rather obscure one, but I saw a British WWII film from the 50's called The Dam Busters, based on a true story about an RAF night raid on several dams in Germany's industrial region. The RAF encountered many difficulties while planning this raid and they kept coming up with the most ingenious solutions to their problems, and I remember thinking that it was one of the cooler movies I'd seen. But when they got to the actual battle scenes, the special effects were absolutely terrible (even by 1950's standards) and I remember thinking to myself that this would be an awesome movie to remake with today's CGI effects.
Rumor has it that Peter Jackson is indeed going to produce a remake.

First of all, The Warriors shouldn't be remade yet here we are:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0423512/
It takes place in LA instead of New York now, so I seriously hope they aren't turning it into a gangbanger film.
Second thing that shouldn't be remade is remaking the series Alvin and the Chipmunks into a modern movie, yet once again, here we are:

Is nothing sacred anymore?

Huh ??? Don't get it. I hope you're saying that these shouldn't be remade. The Godfather is like religion, remaking that is sacrelige.
I've read recently that NBC has already given the go ahead for a remake of the TV show "Knightrider". Yes, I know scary.
It's just that its really not possible to recreate the atmosphere of these shows once again, and I wish to spare us of the ultimate flop of these remakes.
I'd rather live with a poorly done original series, than to have to endure a poor, sloppy remake of the show, and live with a crappy redux 20 years later.

if they re-made adventures in baby sitting it would just turn out obnoxious like all of today's children's movies.
