Subject: Which Springfield?
Written By: MaxwellSmart on 07/09/07 at 8:22 pm
They're just about to decide which of the eligable Springfields is going win the title of The Simpsons' Springfield for the The Simpsons movie. But which one do YOU think should win?
As a native Granite Stater, with full knowledge of the what the city down the highway from me is like, I can say with full confidence that Springfield, Massachusetts....
should not be the one.

Only one will make the cut, so you only get one vote...though you can change your mind.
I'm going with Springfield, Illinois. It's a sizeable city with a nuke plant out in the heartland.

For shame, for shame, Max. You forgot Springfield, Vermont (which got my vote in the contest BTW.)

Springfield Illinois probably is the Springfield in mind, when you look at the little teasers in a lot of episodes, all the facts point to Ill-e-noize!

VERMONT WON!!!! VERMONT WON!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
That kind of surprises me. We were the underdog-in fact, at first, Vermont wasn't even invited into the contest and the state petitioned to be included.

I swear to God, I swear, I did not mean to leave Springfield, VT, off the list! It was a careless oversight, and I know it was in the running.
Springfield, VT, is a beautiful town and all, but the Simpsons are NOT Vermonters.
Should have been Illinois. Come on. Homer, Marge, Barney, Flanders, Principal Skinner, Moe...these are midwesterners!
But anyway, time for sportsmanship,
CONGRATULATIONS SPRINGFIELD VERMONT!!!!!

As a Limey, I thought you'd say Dusty Springfield!

The figure I heard was 55, which means some states have more than one Springfield, or they're counting Norths, Souths, Easts, Wests, News, etc.
However, only some Springfields were qualified to be in the contest because the chosen one had to have a cinema. There are a lot of rinky-dinky Springfields out there, such as Springfield, New Hampshire, population 1100. Other Springfields did not petition or declined the invitation. For instance, Springfield, Minnesota, issued a statement saying it was above all that; they're too good to be the Simpsons' hometown! What? That's like saying you're too good to be America's hometown! Boycott Springfield, Minnesota!
:D
