Subject: Sunday 1st July Concert for Diana
Written By: Philip Eno on 06/30/07 at 6:52 am
Latest news on performers;
Joss Stone has been left in the lurch by Queen guitarist Brian May after he cancelled a planned duet with her.
Now it has emerged Joss will have to sing Queen's Under Pressure on her own at the Concert.
But Brain's spokesman Phil Symes told the Daily Mirror: "He was never confirmed although they were in discussions about it. Brian's up to his ears trying to complete his PhD thesis so he couldn't do it."
Guitar hero Brian's PhD is on astronomy, a subject that has long been close to his heart.
The Concert For Diana will still go ahead with an all-star pop line-up that will include Take That, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Lily Allen, Tom Jones, Will Young. P Diddy and Kanye West.

NBC is going to broadcast the concert on Sunday night. I'm not sure if they'll show the entire concert or just parts of it. Sounds like a really good lineup, though.

Thousands of music fans are expected at a London concert in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales on what would have been her 46th birthday. For those sitting in the main arena will be drench for it has been raining, with more rain to come.
Are Wet Wet Wet due to play at this concert?

I can't believe Status Quo are still together. They are still one hit wonders in North America for 'Pictures of Matchstick Men' in 1968 (Though they did have one other minor hit with 'Ice in the Sun', same year)

So none of their three chord song have made in the charts over there?

'The Quo' are very much a British institution (as the music press likes to tell us...they even say they should be in an institution!) and The Americas were one of the few places they had difficulty in cracking...
Strange how their successes there were a million miles different (style-wise) from the boogie-rock they became best known for...
And would you believe that 'Ice In The Sun' was co-written by almost legendary 50s heart-throb (and Kim's dad), Marty Wilde!

NBC didn't air the Natasha Bedingfield performance and only an hour of the show
Only saw the last hour on VH1...
Though Elton John was great

There should be highlights on the news, and no doubt a DVD will be available soon.

I missed the whole thing.
I was on tv, but I did not really want to see. At one stage, I tried to listen to it online, but could not access it, for it would not load up, too many subscribers?

Sunday's memorial concert for Diana, Princess of Wales dominated TV viewing, with audience figures peaking at 14.8m during the six-hour show on BBC One.
Figures of viewers world wide are still to be announced.

I thought it was a bizarre line up. Half the artists had never been heard of when Diana died so she wouldnt have had a clue who they were or considered them a favourite. I would have preferred to just have had a line up of those that she had liked. I think it would have had more relevence then.
I always find it fascinating to watch these kinds of line ups tho - simply because people like Elton, the Quo, Rod etc will be there for the 20th anniversary of her death - still rocking away - while all those others (most of whom I have seriously never heard of) are just 2 hit wonders who will never be heard of again after 2 years!!!!!
PS - to the little missy who murdered a Queen song and started her own publicity trail by claiming Brian May was going to perform with her - SO UNTRUE ! I can assure you he never had remotely any intention of doing so.
