Subject: Who would you rather see leave The View
Written By: snozberries on 04/26/07 at 4:19 pm
Since this has been such a hot topic I thought I would ask.
I have watched The View religiously ever since Lisa Ling came on so I know show well.
The show ALWAYS works better when Barbara is not there.
She's a wet blanket.
The mom who always stops the kids just when the party's getting good.
I love Rosie - don't always agree w/ her- but I love her outspokeness. She's funny and she makes Joy Behar even funnier.
I say keep Rosie, throw Barbara under a bus, and bring in Whoopi too. Val Betinelli and Sherri Shepard can come back as rotating guest co-hosts.

I don't really care...I hardly ever watch this show. But...the idea of Whoopi would be a good candidate for Rosie's seat.

I don't really want any of them to leave. My mother-in-law got me hooked on the show, and I watch it all the time now. I adore Rosie. I agree with most of what she says, and her and Joy together are a riot. I'm really sad that she's leaving.

They should have never stuck Rosie on there. No, I'm not a homophobe . . . I just don't like her attitude. :P

I don't much care for her attitude either.
I only watch this show when "Price Is Right" has a commercial break, b.t.w. It can be interesting to hear what they have to talk about, and see who their guests are.
But...the idea of Whoopi would be a good candidate for Rosie's seat.
I was thinkin' that too.

Rosie makes the show interesting, obviously so since the ratings have skyrocketed. I was glad to see the a$$ end of Meredith Viera, I had such an aversion to her I stopped watching, and Star Jones was way to full of her I'm a little princess self. When(if she actually does) Rosie leaves they will need someone just as out there to fill the spot.

Yeah, I've never been a Meridith Vieira fan, bt replacing her with Rosie was going from bad to terrible.
Rosie is basically a negative-minded person who is only "nice" if you agree with her. Who wants to watch a bad-attitude biotch in the morning?
I'd like to see Lara Spencer join The View crew, but that will never happen.

I don't really have a preference. I do like Elisabeth Hasselbeck though. She is a cutie-pie! :)
I love how The Donald has been slaming Rosie in the news by saying that she's not leaving, she's being fired by ABC, and that he likes to think he had a helping hand in that ;D

Maybe they should hire The Donald for the view. His comment on all the issues would be:
"I dunno...but, hey, look at me, I'm rich! I'm soooooo awesome!"
Nobody has to explain why they don't like Rosie. She's an obnoxious person. She's a heavy-set woman who is gay. Does that mean I'm supposed to like her no matter how obnoxiously she behaves? That's the kind of BS I used to see in college.
As a rule, I don't watch daytime TV. If I watch daytime TV it reminds me of being cooped up, unemployed, hungover, and eating Cap'n Crunch whilst watching Geraldo. I get depressed because I feel like I need to be doing something else and I'm not doing it, I'm watching frikkin' 'toons!

She is too nice, though, she would be a good replacement for Hasselbeck who is a bit too cutesy for her own good. What they need is someone a bit abrasive feed off of Joy(who I love) and to sour up the sweetness of little miss thing.

I think she's lost touch with reality. I used to really love Oprah, but the past few years she's just become some sort of entity instead of being an actual human being. I was really excited to watch the road trip that her and Gayle took last summer, but I was so disappointed to see the way she acted at certain points. She seemed so holier than thou. Don't get me wrong - she still does some phenomenal things and I will always admire her philantrophy, but I miss the REAL Oprah.

When you've got a couple of billion in the bank, you don't so much lose touch with reality, you just move to a different plane of reality from the rest of us. Today's Oprah is just as real an Oprah as the Oprah from 1987. Maybe less likeable, but just as real.
I would like to say if I had a billion dollars, it wouldn't change me, but I'd probably be lying.
So pass the hat and let's test the hypothesis!

Oh I know..I feel the exact same way when I watched that. I enjoyed watching the aspect of a roadtrip, because that's something I really wanna do someday soon...but she was all, "OMG...a flea market"...like she's never heard of one before....and when she walked into a place she expected her presence to be totally noticed and made a big deal of...etc. ::)

a. I don't know why people think she's hot, unless skinny and blonde constantly equals "hot." I mean, hulloooo, she's got eyes like a crocodile!
b. She is only "brutal" because FOX News gives her a forum in which she never has to debate serious opponents. Often Bill Orally and Hannity & Colmes have her on solo. If she does have to debate it's with some ditz, such as Kirsten Powers, Bob Beckel (sp?), or Al Sharpton, and she's allowed to talk over the other guy and use ridicule for rebuttal. From what I have seen, she's like most bullies, "brutal" until cornered, and then she's just a frightened little girl. I remember one time Phil Donahue applied a little disarming reverse psychology on her and she practically cried!
:P

The didn't get rid of Franken. He left to run for congress. I loved Franken's work on SNL and movies, but he was not a good radio host. I liked him at first because it was a relief to have a liberal--any liberal--on talk radio. Then he started to grate on me. I agree with most of his politics, but he's just an annoying man. Ever hear that guy sing? Oh, he's awful, and yet he insisted on penning little parodies to introduce his guests. Fr'instance, he had Christie Harvey from the Center for American Progress on most shows. He had a little piano jingle to the tune of "Misty" for "Christie." I had to hit the mute button every time. Couldn't stand it!

Acceptable point - Mainly whiney.
I find Ann very attractive, both physically and mentally. I wish she'd eat a couple pizza's but hey, that's her perogative, not my place to dictate her appearence.
I can't say I've ever seen her look weakened at all, whenever I see her on any show or being interviewd she sticks to her guns and sometimes comes off a little crazy.. ok.. a lotta crazy, but she never backs down. That's what I like about her. I tend to agree with Ann on a few points but overall we're fairly different, but I just love seeing her rip in to people with clear, cold logic.
I used to listen in and quite often e-mail his show, then he began to grate on me.. I've always liked Al and I stopped listening before it got to the point where I disliked him.

As a "Rosie replacement" if they are looking with somebody with a mouth on her, how about Leah Remini ???
She ain't my cup 'o' tea, but she would definitely mix it up. And could generate some good controversy when any Scientology subject would come to The View.

I think Leah is a very interesting person. As I re-consider the initial question on this thread, I probably wouldn't mind Barbara Walters being replaced. (I chose "I don't care", which was just a cop out.)
I guess it's to be expected that all the political conservatives would be against a progressive like Rosie.
Fortunately, I believe the tide has turned against them...particularly since the American people have gotten a good taste of the GWBush brand of narrow minded simplistic and insensitive beliefs.

"Progressive?" Where did you see that about Rosie? ???
She's the one who told a subordinate "The reason you got breast cancer is because you are a bad person", and who criticized Trump for the act of FORGIVING Miss America (or whatever the title was). {Ste also made fun of Trump's hair etc, but she specifically indicated that the woman should not have been given a second change)
Neither of those acts fits any definition of "progressive" that I know.

Why would Rosie ever tell someone that they got breast cancer because they were a bad person her mother died of breast cancer and she is an advocate for women getting mamograms for early detection. Its utterly ridiculous to insinuate otherwise!
And as for making fun of Trump's hair, combover, or whatever crawled on his head and died there. She is a comedian. She was doing an impersonation to get a laugh and it was funny. She's not the first to make fun of it and won't be the last. The problem is Miss USA was out partying when she is supposed to be some type of role model and represent whatever it is that Miss USA stands for. In a climate where we spend more time talking about and looking at Paris, Lindsay, Brittney and Anna Nicole Smith I think Ro is just fed up with the whole thing. It is ridiculous and these girls are an embarrassment to my gender!

"OH HE DIDN'T GO THERE!!"
Oh I so did.
;D It's a lot more fun when people are funny in here!

She provides me with plenty of ammo.

Then that's a good thing, a very good thing!

He has shown little integrity and is a clown, at best. Have you read (or heard tapes) of his stuff, it's like he has the mentality of a 6th grader at recess time.
That's what happens when you engage Bill O'Reilly at his level.

Al Franken was that way before he and O'Reilly got into it, long before. By the way, that's not a very nice thing to say about Bill, being that you are such a regular viewer & fan.

I kinda like Franken.. and yes, he is pretty much at the level of sophomoric humor.. so am I. O'Reilly's intelligence and wit belies a certain venom that exists within him. I'm a fan of Bill because he has his own opinions and isn't afraid to talk about them.

Rosie is a pig who never hears anyone's voice but her very own (and believes as long as she thinks it, any other view is not worth hearing). She says really stupid and ignorant things and I am glad :) she is going! (let go most believe) ;)
I shocks me to hear you don't like Rosie. No wonder I love her so much!

Mentioned before I enjoy Franken's straight-up satire, but his commentary is annoying.
Whereas Franken is a satirist, O'Reilly is a farce.
I guess you could say I'm an O'Reilly fan, but "anti-fan" would be a better way to phrase it.
He read one of my emails on the air once. The thing is, his stooges cut the middle out of it so it didn't make much such sense. He looked at the camera and chided, "Nonsense, Mr. Smart..." Well, yeah, it's nonsense now because you cut two sentences out of the middle and made my statements a nonsequitur! That was about three years ago, and I can't even remember what the subject was! I think he selected the email for airing because it mentioned three things: Ted Kennedy, Christian Right, and gays. His interns probably run all the emails though a key-word search and if the right combination turns up in the same email...bingo!
;D

Bottom line, ABC and Baba Wawa finally woke up and kicked Rosie to the curb.
