Subject: Wind It Up - Gwen Stefani, yay or nay?
Written By: Brian06 on 11/21/06 at 7:47 pm
The new Gwen Stefani song that's rising on the charts now, what do ya think of it? I think it's an ok song, but there's a lot of people that aren't liking it. The video's really weird lol.

What is with Gwen and sampling (of sort) Broadway songs. Rich Girl is a direct swipe of "If I Were A Rich Man" which is a song from Fiddler On The Roof. Now she's swiping from the Sound Of Music. Sorry, unimpressed. :P

The video is fun to watch, but the song has hardly any melody to it. It isn't half as catchy as "Hollaback Girl" I think there is better material than this that she could offer.

I like it. It sounds like a mixture of a song from The Sound of music and Missy Elliott's Gossip Folks.

Actually, Gwen's album was viciously panned by USA Today recently. Maybe she should try to reunite with No Doubt (as in definitely), and make good music again ::).

Definite Nay. I wonder if she can even still remember how to carry a tune. She used to be so good in No Doubt. Now she's just ghetto.

Her first album had a few decent songs - though was mostly average, but THIS? Dissapointing...

I hate that song! It's awful. But I'm not really a Gwen Stefani fan anyway. Solo or with No Doubt. The only song of No Doubt's I've ever liked is Don't Speak. But Wind It Up is horrid. I like yodeling, but only if it's good. And Gwen Stefani just sucks at it. Leave the yodeling to country singers. Yodeling does NOT belong in a rock/pop song! What was she thinking? :o Oh wait, I know, she probably wasn't thinking.

Bingo! I voted a big fat nay. On the parody board, several authors have just completed a group parody of "Wind It Up"; I'll link the finished product in a few days.
From what I understand, most of Gwen's new album consists of songs that weren't good enough to be on Love Angel Music Earplugs Baby.

The really sad thing is that the intro yodelling is the best part of the song.
