These are not bad units, but I suggest you spend about $50 if you want it to last.
We bought 2 of them from one of our sources for refurbished units, and found the computer itself to be decent. However, there is no cooling fan in the back, and it only comes with a 300 watt power supply.
I would suggest you install a 90mm fan in the back (about $10), and a better quality power supply, something 400 watts or more (around $40). Even the maker of the motherboard and processor recommend at least 350 watts as a minimum.
If you do that, it should last 3-5 years. Otherwise, what is gonna happen is that the power supply will short out within a year or so, and destroy the motherboard. Then you will only have $300 of miscellanious parts, and a bill of $350-400 to fix.
This is something I suggest for anybody who buys a mass-market computer. If there is space for a fan and it is not included, add one. If the power supply is less then 350 watts (and the vast majority are), replace it. I see over 20 units a month come in dead because of the failure of the $15 power supply they sent with the unit. For the most part, the power supplies do not last much longer then the warranty.
And of course if it fails outside the warranty, that is your problem, not theirs. That way they can sell you another computer, which will also last a little over a year.

Dell Dimension at home
- Flat 15in screen
- 256 MB Ram
- CD-RW/DVD
- 80 gig Hard Drive
- Windows XP
Nothing fancy and I'll probably get a new one that has more ram.

A computer built from scratch, with:
40GB hard disk (need more though)
1.81 GHtz
512MB RAM
Working video card
Working sound card
Viewsonic 17inch monitor
Keyboard
Genius optical mouse
Stereo speakers
CD-R/DVD-R drive
...and some other stuff.
A little dated, like the RAM could be upgraded to a GB, and the hard disk space upgraded to 80GB. And I want an LCD screen too.

HP Laptop - it's about 7 years old and runs Windows 7. It still works fairly well. My husband's laptop is newer (about 3) - it runs Windows 10.
