Subject: Paramount Whacks Tom Cruise...is this the end of TomKat?
Written By: LyricBoy on 08/22/06 at 8:38 pm
News wires report that Paramount productions has severed its agreements with Tom Cruise. Paramount honcho Sumner Redstone stated that Cruise's offscreen behaviour is incompatible with Paramount.
Could the end of TomKat be approaching?

It wouldn't work. They'd be too busy trying to convert each other. :P

Tom Cruise ruined himself, and it will be sad to see him dissappear from A-list status. When I watched Mssion Impossible III I got a kick out of seeing old Tom up on the screen, for as much as things changed in the world, here I was in 2006 going to the movies and there's STILL a big blockbuster Tom Cruise movie around, just like in the 80s and 90s. There was something old school comforting about that.
People would not have thought too much of his Oprah Winfrey antics, OK he was just an excited guy. But he kept talking about Scientology and critisizing people for having problems like depression and other celebs (like Brooke Shields). He shoved his eccentric beleifs onto the world. MI-3 was a good movie too, but it bombed because people were boycotting Tom Cruise.

The world of film doesn't need Tom Cruise. If he were sucked off the face of the earth right now, nothing would change.
I've never understood the importance placed upon celebrities, and the ones who have big opinions on things are my least favorite.

As we Pittsburghers are prone to say.
"Tom Cruise is a jag-off." ;D

He's made his zillions. Tom should retire from pictures and give Scientology seminars instead, such as "Sofa-saults 101."

According to Tom's people, Paramount didn't whack Tom .. he left on his own. That's total BS. They fired him, and he's too "Tom Cruise" to admit that ::)

It's so crazy how this guy has become one of those most despised celebrities around. Just a couple of years ago he was practially universally liked and a box office favorite. Even last year pre-Oprah nuttiness it was still very different. Tom has no one to blame but himself for what has happened to his image.

i think it was the brooke shields scandal that really turned the corner. bitching someone out for having post-partum depression? that was somethin' else, i tell ya.

Besides, I always liked Toms movies... but I guess all things come to an end... Too bad we cant get rid of people at my work that get on my nerves like Paramount did with Tom... Oh well, wonder what he'll do next... Maybe he can get disabilty for his mental issues! LOL ;)

Funny thing is, Sumner Redstone is 100 times the prick Tom Cruise is and doesn't even get 1% of the credit Tom gets!
Just ask Dan Rather.

Hey, if Rather had, up front, admitted that he had been snookered on that whole story he might have kept his job. But noooooooooo. Long afetr the entire nation knew the story was a scam, Rather stuck by it, because he could not resist running a story that matched his political leanings.
By the way I have generally been a Rather fan, I think he's done some good reporting. But the event that cost him his job he can blame on nobody but himself. He F-ed up big time. :-\\

I wonder why some couples get "the name" and others don't. ???
I mean, Carmen Electra ad Dave Navarro coulda been "Carvarro" or "Davecta".
Or Paris Hilton and Paris Latsis coulda been "Pair-us"

maybe Katie was chosen cuz she had a minimal celebrity profile and was like the guy in yellow in the away team...expendable. it's some kind of plan to either
a) get tom outta show biz (taking her down in the process, no great loss)
b) get her famous (taking him down in the process, which was bound to happen)
c) bankrupt people...i wonder how many people lose money when the Tom machine crashes?
Poor katie. see, why her? Nicole, shurrr- big movie star. Katie? i didnt know who she was till the Batman movie that she was not good in.
just ranting. and it's on ly 9:20!

i think it's because nobody actually believes they like each other. bennifer and tomkat are actually suspected of being in some perverse kind of love, however misguided.
these other couples are also sorta lower class. bennifer and tomkat are strictly a-list, even if tom's got his troubles right now.

The sooner that movie executives learn that having their stars represent the Co$ is a liability, not an asset, is the day that Hollywood starts to make money again.

I just saw on the news today that Tom thinks it was a mistake ::) to criticize Brooke Shields for taking medicine to combat her post partum depression.
Hardly a "mistake". A "mistake" is flying off the handle and saying something on the spur of the moment that later you realize was foolish. Tom's criticism of Brooke was systematic and calculated and occurred many times in public forum. >:(
Mistake? LyricBoy don't buy dat.

Maybe the TomKat baby is the anti-christ. I just keep remembering "Rosemary's Baby." You never really see him....and then it's the ultimate horror!

According to papers in the U.K it was Sumner Redstone's wife who pushed for him to be dropped due to the Brooke Shields comment. Funnily enough the Brooke Shield's thing wasn't big news in the U.K papers at the time. It was his comments on people with ADHD and other mental conditions not really being ill and the 'evi'l medications they shouldn't really take that caused a massive backlash here.

I think the reason things went bad for Tom is that HIS DEAL WITH THE DEVIL ENDED WITH THE 'BIRTH' OF HIS FIRST CHILD(EARLIER KIDS WERE ADOPTEES),...SO NOW THAT THE DEVIL CLAIMED HIS REWARD..TOM WILL HAVE TO WORK FOR THE MONEY ON HIS OWN!!!!
Don't you see it?? :o :o

Trophy wife.
It happens a lot with famous and powerful men. Hunter S. Thompson's wife was 33 when he offed himself, less than half his age! Then there was the late Tony Randall. He married a 26-year-old when he was 72. She bore him two sons!
Two other words 4ya-- "Anna Nicole"!

The founder of my former company was 87 when he fathered his last son to a 33-year-old woman.
Worth what today would be over 2 billion dollars, the guy died soon thereafter but left the money to charities instead of his wife or kid.
That had to suck if you were the kid. :P
