I didn't know that being gay was the only reason you're in a boy band.  So which one of the Beatles were gay?  They were a boy band too, you know.

Personally, I really don't care what people do, as long as it does not harm others.  I do not care what religion somebody is, what race, what sexuality, or if they prefer dogs or cats.  That is their own personal business, and it really is none of my concern.

Everybody is equal in my eyes, unless they have harmed somebody.

Plus I have met a lot of celerebities over the years.  And early on I realized they are people just like anybody else.  That is the same for all of them, from Robert Mitchum, Margaret O'Brien and E. G. Marshall to George Clooney, Paula Abdul and Ice Cube.  They are people, with all the advantages and faults that goes along with being human.  If they want to have a different lifestyle (or embrace "acceptible family values", that is their own business.  I do not go around wondering about it, but neither do I want it shoved in my face.

It all boils down to the reason most people go into any form of work: They want money.

Of course, along with being in show business, you also get fame and accolades.  Those are not bad either, but you really can't spend them.

Who gives a monkey's if he's gay or not?  At least one member of every boyband is, so no surprise really.  Good luck to the bloke............

On topic: I always figured he was gay. Big deal. I must commend him though because in the article I read, he stated that he didn't come out before because he didn't want to make trouble for his fellow bandmembers. I thought that was cool of him because we all know how bad it is to be gay. ::)

It's not bad to be gay, but when your target demo is teenage girls......having one member be gay will kill that, if not lessen the chances of you being able to play in certain parts of the country, have your music played on certain radio stations.....it sucks that it has to be this way in the 21st century.

ahhhh, I just thought I'd follow their leads....ie(saver/woops).. it would have been a good prediction to capitalize on if made.. I just heard about the news of the BIGGEST Psychic in Lebanon and how HE predicted the war there and how he will stay and not leave....pretty good one, which then, brings up Sylvia for us Americans NOT predicting the N'Sync OR war story...

I don't think that's necesseraly true. I mean here in Europe I don't think a particular radio-station would stop playing NSync just because one member is gay...sounds more like America to me.
Of course I could be wrong but it seems to me as if some states are more radical than most european countries.

True, but boy bands are past their c. 1998-2001 peak now. In fact, that's probably the reason he waited this long to reveal it.

I'm a little surprised, but I could honestly care less who someone else is attracted to or not. Although I kinda feel bad for any girls who may have/have had crushes on him, lol.

The story mostly caught my eye, because there's so many "backstreet boy/n'sync/etc is gay" parodies that were submitted to amiright during the early days of the site.  I wonder if any of them are seeing an increase in page views now.

A member of a boy band being gay carries about the same stigma as one of the members getting married.  Not that I consider N'stink to be the in the same league as Duran Duran, but I know that I've read several times where girls have mentioned that they stopped following the band when Simon and Nick got married (no, not to each other).

If being gay was the only stigma for airplay, I'd be VERY surprised. When Elton John came out it didn't cut down on the stations playing his music.  Maybe 30 years ago it would have been an issue on it's own, but not now.

Elton John is, by no measure, a teen idol. There were never that many girls in the 1970s or now who fantasized about banging Elton John at slumber parties and thought of him as their dream man. Lance Bass' coming out of the closet would considerably affect the record sales of N'Sync in their peak days.
