I agree that Kanye West is very overrated. Also emo acts like Fall Out Boy are very overrated IMO.

Reality tv like "Survivor", "American Idol", "Fear Factor", etc.

Yeah, I agree that reality tv is very overrated. Alot of people like it but I just dont get the appeal.

Celebrities are overrated. While flipping through TV channels I often come across these fawning idiots, who presumably work for tabloids or something, gushing about how utterly fascinating people like Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson are, how we just cannot look away because they're so fabulous.

That's when I find myself reaching for the barf-bag.

'The Streets' are very overated, they can't sing and their music is so flat.

I think alot of contemporary music (The Strokes, Architecture in Helsinki) come to mind is overrated by teenagers who are anemic to older music and think they are hip and know all. Both the Strokes and the White Stripes-I don't get what's so great about them.

Emo music.

Music wise: "garage rock" like the Strokes, White Stripes, etc.

TV wise: Reality TV, CSI-like shows and other police dramas.

Film wise: Lord of the Rings (a little... although I though it was a fantastic movie trilogy)

Fashion wise: the whole "metrosexual" thing people have going on

Technology wise: overpriced Ipods

Game wise: The Sims (Addictive for ages, then boring)

Asian Bird Flu...but maybe I shouldn't knock it 'till I've tried it!

I did the unthinkable and bought a 60 GB ipod video on Tuesday. And it's awesome, lol...not like the crappy 3G ipods with the touch-wheels and sub-standard sound quality.

In terms of rappers, though, Kanye West IS pretty good.

And honestly, Obherst probably IS the '00s Dylan.. if you can name someone who qualifies more, let me know. He's not that good, and he's really kinda whiny and mopey, but I can't think of someone who fits the bill better.

Hmm, yeah, I never really liked Dylan. In the respect that both are overrated, yes, he is the '00s Dylan. Joni Mitchell is far superior to Dylan in every way.

Agreed: to me it just seemed like one great movie (well it was supposed to be one big book), or three movies which were pretty similar. But I spose Peter Jackson did as good a job he could with the constraints and limitations he had. At least it didn't dissapoint fans as much as the Star Wars trilogy did...

Hah! I'm probably the only one who hasn't even SEEN the 3 LOTR movies.

When it comes to epic fantasy movies, The Lord of the Rings is going to go down as being among the best of them. People will disagree and choose their own favourites, of course, but that trilogy will always crop up in "best fantasy movies of all time" discussions regardless of what positions people take on them. It'll act as a point of comparison for other fantasy films.

Just take a look at what the genre had to offer before Peter Jackson's trilogy. There's basically some flawed, quirky fringe stuff in the 1970s like Wizards, some expensive failed experiments in the '80s like Legend and Willow along with crap like Red Sonja, and practically nothing in the '90s ('cause Hollywood learned its lesson in the '80s). The Lord of the Rings movies, by comparison, may not be perfect, but for the most part they are very strong and they will stand the test of time.

But the extended editions are superior to the theatrical releases, in my opinion. I actually disliked the first movie when I initially saw it in theatres and skipped out on the next two, but I've been won over since seeing all three extended versions.

I agree...I think they're awful and really don't understand what all the fuss is about!
