Subject: What's more '00s: the early '00s or the mid '00s?

Written By: Donnie Darko on 05/23/06 at 2:01 pm

I'd say the mid '00s.

For sheer shock value, the early 2000's take the cake.

Now there is some debate as to when the 00's officially began. Some say 1999 with the Y2k scare, others with the disputed election of November 2000, and many with the 9/11 attacks.

The early 2000's were so insane, that they prevent the mid 2000's from really establishing themselves. I think we as a society have learned to sort of live with the dramatic changes that have occured at the beginning of the decade, and the mid 00's definitely have a feel. But I honestly can't describe them yet.

They are both 00's, just different types. The styles of the early 00's fit together with the late 90's, while the mid 00's are the beginning of a new era.

The mid '00s is when this decade really separated itself from the '90s, so the mid '00s.

The mid-'00s are very much their own, shockingly outrageous sort of era, the equivalent of spring 1983 to spring 1986 in the '80s. The early '00s didn't quite have that colorful, tech-forward, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" atmosphere...though people wouldn't have admitted it, they were still tied in a way to the Y2K era.

Ha ha! I'm with you Jason. To compare five years of the early 00s to only one year of the mid 00s is barely a fair question.

The mid '00s is 2003-2006 or 2004-2006.

The mid-'00s will probably be seen in the future as spring 2003 to spring 2006, about 50 Cent to whatever happens this summer.

I think this is probably the last mid '00s summer.

Yeah, probably.

Maybe so, but it hasn't started yet. In the Northern Hemisphere, Summer Solstice is usu. either June 20th or 21st. I think this year it's the 20th.
